Hi Matt,
I just came back to you thread.
I'm sure the fellow I knew had Ray as a first name. If push came to shove I could visit the college (1 block away) and check with the current ROTC office to see if there are any old records still around that might offer his last name. I do remember he was a NCO.
Regards,
Alan

As luck would have it I actually got a call from "Ray", that is his first name. He saw my ad in Hemmings and called about the car. The 2nd owner had told me the first owners story and Ray's story was a complete match so he was the first owner. It was pretty exciting to talk to him. I figured he had some reason for ordering a blue interior with the Bryar Blue interior but it turns out that he bought the car that way off the lot!!! Someone else must have ordered it and cancelled.
Anyway, he's potentially interested in buying the car!! I can't think of a better home for her than back with the original owner.

...my favorite color for '72. What a color combo, roadster, LT-1, A/C, 4spd...
...doesn't get any better than this for a bumper shark C3 smallblock Corvette.
...if only my Mega millions numbers were the same ones drawn....
