1968 Convertible (running project)
$12,000 OBOIP (Or Best Offer In Person) to filter out possible low ballers.
I bought this car a few years ago and it was parked since 1987. Car is originally silver with black interior. I drove the car a few times around the street and all gears work fine. The 327 NOM engine smokes a little bit so I suspect it may need new rings or head work. The car was modified in 1985 with 14 compression ratio (I cannot confirm this) and had a lot of other work done to the engine.
Things that I replaced on the car:
New plugs, HEI distributor with 8mm wires
New calipers, rubber hoses and new master cylinder
Fresh oil (engine, transmission and differential)
New engine harness
I replaced the stock distributor with a new HEI unit and I did a poor job. The car starts but dies. This can be easily fixed by anyone that knows about these car and then you can test drive the car.
Things that I know are needed:
Weatherstripping
Paint job (car has bare fiberglass)
Front end was replaced with eckler kit including hood
Fiberglass top needs rear window, headliner and hardware
New white soft top has to be installed and will need hardware
Has 15” torq wheels that has seen better days. Tires are dry rotted
Will need some small fiberglass repairs before paint
Wiper door and link is missing
Passenger side parkbrake assembly/hardware missing
Chassis has some corrosion but there is no cancer. Cage looks in good condition. Good windshield and glasses.
I will post pictures in a few days. Car is located 30 miles north of Birmingham. Some may be worried about the car needing race fuel. Please do a search on Xylene. This can be obtained at Ace Hardware for $65 (5 gallon bucket) to mix 100 octane fuel (93 octane with 30% xylene). I can send you a spreadsheet on how to calculate the ratio.
Reason of selling: I want to free space in the garage and I want to get a 2005 Z06 by next year.
