Yes I am a so I apologize for any questions previously asked but I need some help! I am looking to buy a 70-74 project car (with minimal engine work if at all possible) What are the major things I need to look for when buying this particular car?? Is a slightly rusted frame a huge problem (does it need to be replaced) what kind of suspension problems should be avoided at all cost.. anything else I should be aware of? I'm not too familiar with the older generation vette's so any input would be greatly appreciated and again, aplogies for any redundant questions.
I've looked at hundreds of ads and a dozen C3s lately, and the prices are all over the board.
Seems like you can find a fairly nice convert for $15k; super-nice for $20k. Year doesnt seem to matter much, at least 69-72.
"...is the "low" price considered a restoration car?"
I would guess so. The term used around here is "ragged out".
The consensus seems to be that ragged out Vettes will end up costing you far more than the upfront money for a decent one. And there is a lot of experience on this forum. They convinced me! Plus, you often see ads such as....
"$30k+ invested, will take $18k".
my advice is probably something you've already thought of:
learn everything you can about what you want BEFORE you talk money. most people here will tell you that you should buy the best-condition car you can. In the long run it will most likely be cheaper. However, if you are fortunate enough to have nearly unlimited funds for this sort of thing we all vote that you restore one of the ones no one with a budget will attempt..lol!
Really though, measure twice, cut once. Good luck! :seeya
