i have a 1979 corvette that i would like to sell. I live in northern cali and this is what i know about the car...it had 98,000 miles one odometer, car was oringinally yellow (from what i can tell), has t tops. Motor wise: holly street performer intake manifold, holly double pumper (4 brl carb) not sure what cfm, edlebrock high rise valve covers, headers, i just put on new exhaust from the collectors back( 2 1/2), no smog equipment. I have driven it a little bit and i think the rings are bad cause it smokes when i accelerate. but not sure.
Here is a pic of the car and i will put another of the motor later... http://www.sromagazine.com/boards/sh...threadid=34941
just go to that website and look at the image.
i only want 3000 for the car. e mail me at adidasheath@hotmail.com if you would like to ask any other questions.
thank you
mike
Has the car been sitting up? If it has you may not have bad rings. When I bought my 75 it had been sitting up for a while. The motor ran good, but it smoked a little when I accelerated. Like you I thought rings, but it turns out the valve gaskets had dried and during acceleration the volumne of oil on top of the head increased enough to leak and run on to the exhaust. The resulting smoke was blown out the back and made it look like the engine was smoking. I installed new valve cover gaskets and the smoke problem disappeared. Hopefully you will be as lucky.
please e mail me if you want pics because if you just post up i don't have you e mail address.
thanks
mike
