Our Corvette that we have for sale is a 1968 427/435 Corvette that has 9,300 miles. This car was sold new in the Chicago area and has never left. It has been stored in a heated garage since new and is in exceptional condition. The original window sticker, copy of the dealer order sheet and copy of the dealer delivery receipt are included with the sale. This is a three owner car and copies of all titles are also available. This car runs excellent and drives as new. It has been driven on 100 degree days and has run flawlessly and stays cool. It has never seen rain or been used as a daily driver.
It was ordered on November 11th, 1967 with Cordovan Maroon paint and saddle leather interior. This is an extremely rare color combination. Cordovan Maroon is the 2nd lowest exterior color for 1968 and saddle is not even listed in the Corvette Black Book as being available in 1968. The NCRS restoration guide lists the saddle leather as a special order with no production estimates. Being a special order vehicle, the car was not delivered until April 29, 1968.
All of the factory paint is in place except for the L-88 hood which was installed by the original owner in 1970. The hood is finished in correct laquer and matches almost perfectly. Please keep in mind that this is a 40+ year old paint and is not perfect, but yes it does look as good in person as it does in the photos. All of the original chrome, trim, glass and weatherstripping are in place. The car has all correct 1968 7" rally wheels with radial red line tires. The spare is a date correct Firestone red line that has never been used. The interior is 99% original and is in perfect condition. All fiber optics are functional and all accessories are operational other than the headlight switch. The headlight doors must be opened with the manual overrride under the column.
The original engine was removed in 1970 and sold. A ZL-1 crate engine was purchased over the counter and was installed in its place. This was in the car until 2003. The car now has a date correct 1968 427/435 engine in place. This engine retains all of its original stampings and is out of a Corvette built approximately three weeks prior to this car. The M-21 4-speed transmission is correct, but not original to this car. The original rear end is in place with 4.56 gears, although 4.11 came from the factory. A 4.11 gear set is included with the sale. The factory smog system is not in place, but a date correct small block pump and air tubes are also included in the sale.
I would LOVE to see detailed photos of your car. Sounds quite MAGICAL! Have you done extensive search for the Original Block and engine parts by numbers? I can't wait to see some photos!

Need to see some pictures and would also like to know about the original engine.
The original engine was removed and sold in 1970. The original owner has no memory of who purchased it.
I would be more than happy to send pictures to anyone interested in purchasing this vehicle. I have over 50 detailed pictures of the car available. Please send me an email and I will send the photos as soon as possible.
never driven in rain and always kept in a heated garage. how do you know this for sure? i would love to see pics of under car. must be very clean original.
Original owner still lives in the same town as he did when he purchased the Corvette in '68. I spoke to him briefly after we purchased the car and he said he never took it out unless the weather was good. He only drove it on Friday and Saturday nights to street race. That's why the milage is so low and the engine had been changed. My wife knew the family we purchased the car from. They only put about 1,400 miles on it in 28 years. As far as I can tell the original wiper blades are still on the car.
Underside is not completely factory appearing as this was a hot rod back in the day. It had big Amarican Racing wheels and Hooker side pipes in the early 70s. I have a picture of the car from 1976 in this configuration. Some bits and pieces of the undercarriage were painted to keep them from getting surface rust. It's all in excellent condition, some areas are just not completely stock looking.
The last six digits of the VIN on our car are 416801. The VIN that is on the engine block is very clear except for one digit. It appears that it is 414622, but the top of the 6 is very faint. The rest of the numbers are very clear and easily identified.
Hi This is Jonathan I hope all is well! I have personally seen this car and it is a piece of corvette history. It is one of the nicest original 435 cars I have seen. I have owned a number of 435 cars myself and you would be hard pressed to find another documented more original 435 car for the price being asked. Just my .02
