Some opinions on this car please
I am a C2 and C5 owner, but recently saw this 82 and would like opinions on it. What's best price considering it's from a dealer? Anyone know the dealer?
that is a one year only they are selling cheap I bet a dollar to a donut he wants over 12k I have had 2 and had to give both of them away good luck with it the shark man
If you want a good price on an excellent car, I haven't seen many dealers better than 7 hills. I've not seen them in person, but he does a great job putting the cars out there for a fair price. He seems to specialize in the late C3's in desireable trim.
Looks like a very nice, well kept car. The mileage keeps it from being really collectible, and hurts the value. There are a lot of these cars around with 20-50K miles. I recently sold one with 19,500 miles.
However, if you want a nice show car/driver, it looks like a nice car. Check out the paint and interior in person, as cosmetics are very expensive to restore on a CE. It looks like it has all the correct parts. The rear hatch hinges bend over time, so check the operation of the rear hatch. The crossfire injection gets a bad rap but is really a very good running setup if tuned properly. The problem is that few people know how to tune them and then blame the crossfire. Mine ran great and was very efficient. The four speed automatic with overdrive is nice too.
I think a reasonable price for this car, if it's as nice in person as it is in the pictures and runs well, is in the $13-16K range. I liked my '82 CE a lot, but they're what I consider up-and-coming collectibles. Right now there are just too many around. Yes, they do sometimes go for decent money, but those cars are almost always low mileage, completely documented originals.
Check out this forum member's nice '82 CE. It needs a few minor things but has about the same mileage and has had lot of work done. I think it's a bargain at $9,500.

Thanks,
The guy wants 24K and told me he really didn't need to negotiate as he's sure the car will go for that. I offered 19,500 and he said he would not accept that offer or even counter. That's some arrogance.
For that price, the car should have at least one "top flight" award.
The '82 CE was the first Vette I drove when I was 17 years old. The car had less than 2,000 miles on it, and it sold for $16,000.00 back in 1983. The guy that bought it just KNEW it would be the next great collector car. I looked for one like it for 20+ years, but could not find the right one.
I have a nice low mileage '82 base car, that I am restoring to "better than new" condition (bigger cam, ported heads and intake, better overdrive transmission, higher stall converter, upgraded computer, nicer wheels and tires). I am shooting for about 250 HP to the rear wheels, but drives like original.
I have completely gone throught the suspension and drivetrain. I have a complete new interior for it, and plan on a base coat/clear coat paint job. I will have less than half of what he is asking for that car in mine, and it will be stunning.
The cool thing about it, is that it came off the assembly line in Bowling Green on my 16th birthday (well into what would normally have been the 1983 production year).
Buy it - the more we're willing to pay for rubber bumper cars, the higher the values of ALL C3's go. Personally I think a pristine $20k rubber bumper is a good deal just for the simple fact that if you're buying one for less than that, you're probably going to spend more than that making it look like the $20k vette. How many of us thought we were getting a deal on our cars at $4k-$5k only to now have more than $20k invested in them?

Mileage seems too high for that price.
Sounds like he's waiting for one of the suckers that are born each minute and you're not it.
Located dirctly across from the National Corvette Museum I bet he can name his price on some days. Guys get there all juiced up for that car they had years ago and drop major cash on an impulse buy.
