Hi Guys -
I picked this car up a few weeks ago and it’s not going to meet my originality requirements, but it may be a perfect car for someone who wants a great looking driver, or a nice basis for a hot rod or restification.
1969 Corvette coupe. L46 (350 hp) 350, M21 4 speed, original #s matching engine and trans. Tilt, A/C, posi rear. Very late production (~Dec. 23, 1969), 976 Lemans Blue, 411 bright blue vinyl interior. Southern (MS/FL) car with a nice frame and birdcage/windshield posts. Newly rebuilt engine; runs very well (needs choke adjustments for smoother startups). Interior is decent overall with newer seat covers/foam and a nice dash/console/inner panels; carpet is faded/old, t-top liners are slightly heat warped. Paint is older and driver quality with some flaws – looks very good at 6 feet. The rear of the frame was cleaned up and painted black years ago – the kickups, end caps, and body mounts all look very nice.
The nose area has the typical rivet bumps, and there are stress cracks near the headlight bucket openings. The car looks very nice from the outside but there was significant body work done at some point – it looks like the late 80s based on 1988-dated replacement seat belts. The rear fiberglass was banged up and the back 12-15 inches of the rear deck was repaired (repro tail panel) and at this time 1970-up lower panels were installed with the protective kickout at the bottom behind each wheelwell. Some may view this as a plus. It also appears that some of the body shell from a silver car was used in these repairs, and the doorjamb section with the car’s original trim tag (Q12 – Dec 17, 1969) was spliced in.
The car looks very good externally, and it’s a good running/driving L46 car that can be improved over time as you enjoy it. As several of my Corvette buddies have told me, someone could have fun with this car just like it is for another 10+ years. I’d agree, but I have originality hang-ups…
It has a 2007 MS state inspection, so it's a good roadworthy car. I've done over 50 miles of country road/rural 2 lane highway cruising with no issues at all - it runs and drives great. The only thing I think it needs for a new inspection is possibly a left rear caliper, and the headlight vacuum needs troubleshooting. They were working for the previous owner, but there were a few vacuum hoses off under the hood and I did not mess with them yet. The wipers work, but the door also needs vacuum troublsehooting. Steering wheel needs alignment too.
$16,500 very negotiable. I'll post several sets of pics and I will take pics of anything that anyone wants to see.
Located about 10 miles south of Pittsburgh, PA. There are numerous impartial CF members with C3 expertise near me. I'm sure one of them would be willing to look at the car if someone is interested.
Thanks -
Terry

Nice '69, if I didn't have mine I'd consider it, that's one clean Vette!!

Thanks Kevin -
It's a handsome car cosmetically (a 5 footer) and someone will get a good running chrome bumper car and enjoy the heck out of it for not a ton of money. I'm not sure if Lemans Blue and 1973/1974 medium blue are excatly the same but they are pretty darn close.

A few new pics from today with a some underside details. I put a couple more miles on it today. Sounded great and ran very strong - lots of fun to drive. Most of the fiber optics are working too. I'll try and replace a few bulbs this weekend then I'll bet they'll be fully functional. The tailpipes show surface rust but are very solid, the headpipes are newer. Anybody quietly lurking who wants to see other areas in more detail? Let me know.

Sure, I can take some pics of that. It's the usual set of bumps that develop when the core support rivet heads corrode beneath the fiberglass on 68-72 cars. You end up with small bumps. I'll grab some pics and post them here - I wanted to show the headlight area stress cracks too so these will come in handy.
do you have a close up photo of the front nose rivet problem? How extensive is it?
Photos as promised. These were tricky to photograph (pardon the lightbulb glare) but you should be able to see the light bumps. Again, these bumps are common on these cars if they have the original core support. The rivet heads corrode and 'pop' under the glass. There are numerous threads on the topic on the forum.
I'm not seeing any visible evidence of windshield pillar splicing or that the VIN tag is not the one one this birdcage was born with. It's entirely possible that this is still the completely original body shell/cage and that the car was born Cortez Silver, as opposed to parts of another shell being used for repair. 20 years later, who knows... I'll get more detailed pillar pics later and post them.
$13,900, not too negotiable at this level. I don't want to keep driving the car, get attached, and start improving it. It needs to go so I can get my keeper, which will likely be postponed to next year since I need to rebuild my funds again.
I can't afford it, but I have to commend you on the pictures you've taken and the amount of honesty shown in this listing. I wish all sale listings were this detailed.
