I've had a C5 and now have a C6 and been a Forum member for7 years. I have a Norwegian Cousin coming to my home in Gulf Breeze, Florida (panhandle) next week for a weeks visit and he wants to buy a C3 1978-80 while here. Apparently, Norway allows an import duty-free if 30 years or older. Finding a good car and purchasing it in one week is tough since it also must be fairly near here to allow inspection. Any suggestions about how to search for such a C3 through the Forum or otherwise would be appreciated. Also, the pros and cons of each of those years to be aware of.
Thanks,
Savvy Senior
C-3's are nearly bullet proof if they haven't been messed with. Punch in 1980 (etc) Corvettes for sale on Google. It will list dozens of sites to look at. Several will have dealer and private listings in your area for inspection. My guess is $8000 up for an unrestored car. Buy the best you can afford, never the cheapest. Since good ones appreciate all the time, no matter what you pay now (within reason) you will not lose money on a nice one over time. 100,000 miles is easy with the low stressed smog motors of the 80's. I love the look of the '78 Pace Cars. But expect to pay $15,000 UP for a decent example.
