Thank you, I thought it may have been re-engined.

Suggest you buy the Corvette black book...

Damn Aussies, you need to tell them everything - including how to play rugby

Can't speak for the rest of Australia but in Tasmania there are about 50 Corvettes.
I am lucky enough to have a '72 BB Vert (matching numbers) and yes there is a W in the VIN.

Some very active Corvette clubs here in Oz, but we have some strange rules for left hand drive, but it does not seem to stop the cars being used on the roads.

What's strange about the rules ??? 30 year and older cars with Left Hand Drive have special registration (in Tasmania and most other States), that allow you to use it 52 times a year and simply run a log book. It costs about 40% of the cost of full registration.
I must say I have never been pulled up to check the log book.
Once upon a time you had to display a LH Drive sticker on the rear but not anymore.
I was a bit perplexed at the time driving a LH drive car on the left hand side of the road but it is actually easier than driving a RH drive car. I might find it more difficult driving one the RH side of the road though. A mirror on the RH side of the car is very handy when pulling out from the curb.
When I put my car over the pits on arriving down under the inspector was stating about the tailights had to be changed with an orange indicator lens etc.
So we went to the section of his book on 30 year and older cars and hello no rule existed.
While we were in the section I asked him to show me any reason why the car could not be fully registered and there is no such rule.
I can not justify full registration as this a "weekend car", the only things that annoys me is the specal registration plate you have to display.
I bought some design plates (we can own them outright), RAGTOP and VET 454 but unfortunately can not put them on the car unless I fully register it.
Maybe when I retire.
