Default 71 454 4 speed air original owner car.

365 HP 460 TQ LS-5.

Just got brought in by the original owner!!! 71, 454 4 speed, factory air, PW/PB/PS car that is original down to the original spark plugs. Only thing I can see not original is it shows an older re-pint & an after market vintage sound stereo. ODO shows 7,600 miles on it & this guy is about 70 years old......it is in for new plugs/points/condensor, and HE WANT's to sell it!!! I have no way of verifying the mileage, but if he is telling the truth it is original ( I would be amazed, I suspect 107k but the interior is definatly un-restored original & looks like new yet). I asked him if he would sell & he said yes, for $30k. Anyone that may want to look at this come on in while it is still here. It is coverd in dust from sitting in his garage but starts right up & runs great.

Color combination?
Coupe or Convertible?
Sound like a good car for someone, but it appears that the C3 market is weak at the moment.

Just curious, does the interior look better than my original '71 interior/paint with 55,000 miles? I have nothing around here for comparison.

Keep us posted.

Dave

Blue exterior, black interior...interior looks as good as yours, but your exterior looks great.....this is covered w/dust from storage so we are going to rinse it off before racking it up.

I would be interested in it too. I would like to see a close up picture of the transmission stamping if possible. Thanks.

Very nice looking car but I see one slight problem. It shows an interior code of 412 which is dark blue vinyl. But the pics show black leather, or at least they look that way. That could be a big expense to bring back to original. If the interior was (or is) correct $30K would be a very nice deal. Also I think the valve covers are supposed to be orange however this looks like an early 71 from the 'A' on the trim tag and its possible they used chrome. I'm not a big expert on 71's. Still, a pretty original looking car and decent price for what you get.

Yes, interior is black leather & all black. I got 2 pics of the block casting #s 3963512 on drivers side rear & 07 70 on the pass rear. I could not get it on a lift since the techs have 16 cars stacked in behind it. Monday I'll get pics of the trans, etc.

It is an August 1970 build date, so it could have received 1970 chrome valve covers--especially during that time period--no big deal either way as it is an easy fix, but the interior code of 412 (dark blue vinyl) is certainly an issue to ask the owner about.

...I believe the valve covers to be original. I know an original owner '71 LS-5 car # 033xx, December 7th, 1970 build date that I know have the original chrome valve covers. Supposedly, LS-5 cars up to about VIN#04000(or close to thereabouts)are accepted to have the chrome covers.
