Default 1972 LT-1 convertible excellent

FOR SALE 1972 lt1 4 speed. $39500. i owned this car years ago when i bought it out of colorado, i then sold it about 3 years ago and the new owner had a 1.5year frame on restoration done on the car. i bought the car back from him this spring when he turned his intrests to other things. there is less than 1000 miles on the restoration. before the car was restored it was mostly original, it had been resprayed once before. it was still a far above average car.
Restoration includes: body was stripped to bare, no stress cracks or body damage was found. there was evidence of a very small repair between the inner taillights. it was then sprayed with a basecoat clearcoat finish. some suspension parts were replaced with new. it has new SS brakes and lines, new master cylinder, new alumnized exhaust from the manifolds back. also replaced the chrome tips and exhaust bezels. new shocks all around. wheels were sandblasted and painted, brand new GM trim rings, center caps were excellent and brand new white wall tires.
INTERIOR: new seat vinyl seat covers and foam pads, new carpet throughout, new doorpanels, interior is a 9 out of 10 in my opinion. glass is all in excellent shape as well, no chips or scratches of any kind.
ENGINE: original MATCHING NUMBER engine was removed and rebuilt, i have all reciepts for the $3500 that was spent on the engine alone, extra care was taken so the numbers remained on the stamp pad. car starts runs and idles excellent. the 4 speed transmission(M20) is also the original matching numbers unit.
OPTIONS: paint code 973 (mille miglia red), trim 400 (black vinyl), build date A-19, C07 (hardtop), LT1 (engine), M20 (4 speed), N37 (tilt/tele), N40 (power steering), U69 (am/fm).
DATES and NUMBERS: BLOCK 3970010, build date H 2 1 (aug 2, 1971), pad 12S500553 VO809CKY; INTAKE 3959594; DIST 1112101 date 1 f 2 (june 2, 1971). MANIFOLDS right 3932461 left (not original). WATER PUMP 3891398 date G 8 2, STARTER 1108418 build date 1 25 1, TRANSMISSION P2M09A 12S500553; BELL HOUSING 3899621; REAR END (not original-replaced with a 74 unit with 3:08s CODE AA); FUEL PUMP 40709; ALT (not original), CARB (unit on car is new holley but not original) i am including the correct HOLLEY carb for this car dated 1 8 1 3999263- its needs to be rebuilt but is complete.
THINGS THAT ARE NOT PERFECT: hardtop paint is not show quality but has all new weatherstripping, the top was not redone at the time of the restoration, the top and headliner itself however is in excellent condition. radio is hit and miss but works sometimes. the olny gauge that is not functioning is the water temp gauge, it was operating and recently quit on me. the wiper panel does not open with the wiper switch, the wiper motor is new. the top was not replaced but is still in good condition. first gear has a slight zingy sound but still functions perfectly. the original bumpers are still on the car and the chrome is slightlly hazed over, i have bought set of bumpers that i had rechromed and they will come with the car or i can have them switched for you.
OVERVIEW: this is a fully detailed car and looks, runs and drives perfect. the restoration done on the car was professionally done and it turned out excellent. this is a car that will olny gain value when it is in its present condiion. i have described the best as i can on here but can answer any questions you have. call Mark at 605-987 2501 daytime, i am located in canton SD, 57013.

Why does it have A/C vents? Not an A/C LT-1 since tach has 6,500 redline.

Oops!
Do I see black spray painted FRONT underbody
here and there, or is that due to lighting?
I was hesitant to ask.
Rear underbody looks great.
Mark.

some of it was spot painted, its looks very nice under the car. the pics make it appear done quickly which it was not, time was taken to make sure there was no overspray on non-painted parts. the flash of the camera is picking up the parts that were spotted.

every car that had a heater still had vents for the heater. the A/C LT-1 had a lower RPM tach(5600 i think), and this does have the 6500 RPM tach like you said.

Heater air comes either thru the defroster vents on top center of dash pad or down on hump behind radio to either side thru ductwork.

The two center vents below wiper switch plate are for A/C.

I believe he was referring to the Center Console Bezel vents. I didn't think they were on non-A/C cars.

...this center bezel piece is from an A/C car. A true non-A/C car has a bezel that has no vents under the wiper switch and says "C-O-R-V-E-T-T-E" spelled out.

you are correct, i was looking through some of the parts that were sold with the car and i found this

i can switch it for the buyer and i may anyway to see if that fixes the wiper panel from not opening. my appologies to LTONE72, he was right-he know his stuff. not sure why it was switched, the one in the car is a little cleaner than this one, that may have been the reason.

My guess for the switch is that the one you show with the C-O-R-V-E-T-T-E panel has a wiper switch that doesn't work and it was replaced with the first part the previous owner could get his hands on. Is there any ductwork actually going to the center vents?

i did pull off the wiper switch panel on the dash there is no big vent behind there, but a little one that is about 4 inches wide by 1/2 inch tall, it looks like it will screw to the wiper plate panel. i have not installed the correct panel or tried the wipers yet. thanks for the info. mark

I was never trying to find anything wrong with your car. I was just wondering why it had the a/c vent when it was obviously a non ac car. I think your car is a real beauty at an attractive price. I would buy this car in a heatbeat if I didn't already have two Corvettes. Great color combo and best of all a numbers matching LT1. I'm sure someone will buy this car quickly or we'll see it on Proteam's site for $60,000 soon. Best of luck with the sale
