Default What does CRT Mean?

There is a 427/390 corvette on ebay saying the corvette is a very rare "CRT". What does this mean?

Hmm.. since its a 427 its takes the obvious answer away. The engine suffix code CRT means its a 72 LT-1 with A.I.R.

Could be someone who doesn't know what they're talking about. I saw someone a month ago that had a super rare LT-1 automatic. THey just thought it was a LT-1 cause someone had put a LT-1 hood on it.

whats the link to it?

Thats a L36 car it appears. The '68 hp ratings were 390, 400 and 435 hp so who knows what a 396 is. They also say its an automatic but its a 4spd.

They also say it has the M22 which was only available with the special L88 engine. THeir facts don't add up. I have no idea what a CRT is in this case.

It also has the incorrect shifter panel. The 68 should have crossed flags and no engine id plate. The backup lights don't appear correct for a 68 either and look like they're missing.

looks like a typical ebay listing. Car is exaggerated and full of mistakes. Someone else correct me if i'm wrong.

BUYER:...."does it run"????

SELLER...."Can't Really Tell".

BUYER: Has it ever been wrecked???

SELLER: "Can't Really Tell"

BUYER: Is it original??

SELLER: "Can't Really Tell".

Well I was kind of thinking the same as you all. I was guessing CRT meant Close Ratio Transmission. But the way he was using it in the sentence it didn't make sence.

Thanks,
Steve

The thing that most makes sense is the M22 Muncie 4spd Close Ratio Heavy Duty. There were only 80 Corvettes made in 1968 with these. From what I can tell, these were behind the 427/430 of which only 80 were made also. Of 18,630 verts made that year, I suppose only 80 made would be considered rare.
Fault the idiot sales weasel that filled out the listing. I am sure they do not even have possession of the car, but are selling on consignment. And they apparently wouldn't know what they had anyway.

Seems I'm right:

I was thinking that the M-22 only came in the L-88's. I guess that would be the 80#.

It's so rare that it has options never published in Corvette manuals. I really like the "M22 Stone Crusher" option. It's tougher than the Rock Crusher.

I just got a responce. They said that CRT stands for "counter rotation block".

CRT= Corvette Re-Tards. Stone Crusher, big brother to the Rock Crusher and father of the soon to be released Pebble Crusher for the low HP 4 cylinder hybrid eco-friendly Corvette C-8 to be released soon after hell freezes over.

CRT = Cathode Ray Tube

LOL, that was my first thought too (based on the industry in which I work)...
