Default 74 BB conv. project for sale

Hello all. I have a friend that needs cash, so he is going to sell his 74 convertible, white/black, 454, auto, a/c, p/s, p/b, p/w, tilt/tele, original engine, etal. This is a project car. Needs front and rear bumper covers, needs interior work(seat covers/carpet/cleaning), soft top canvas, engine ran a few years ago but should be gone through, has SS calipers that need to be installed, needs paint and minor body work (cracked wheel lips). This is a complete, original big block convertible , solid, straight, rust free frame and bird cage. This will be worth 20K ++ when finished. I am trying to get some feedback from forum members as to interest and apx. price. This will likely go to e bay, Hemmings, and Driveline, but if there is an interested party on this forum we would like to hear from you. Car is located in San Antonio, Texas. I can be reached @ 210 213 7004. Thanks, G.

I went over and looked at the Vette today and found that it is in better condition than I remembered. (it's been 7-8 years since I last saw it). I also went to the "NADA" and "price calculator" sites, and see that this Vette would be in the "needs restoration" (one level above "needs everything") condition and their values indicate 15K. I think that this vette is somewhere between needs everything and a good driver. It's a good 15 footer. The owner has 10K into this, and I think that will buy the car, but if the "real" market is higher than this by 2-5K, I am going to encourage him to wait it out a bit. We would really like to hear your comments. I will take photos tomorrow and get a host so they can be posted here. Come on guys, give us some feedback. Thanks, G.

G,
I am in Austin.. My name is Cary Blades with The Austin Stingray Sharks..I will tell our members about this car at ouir meet tommorrow.. Too bad it is not a 4-speed.. It would bring more..You are right in that if this car was totally restored and pristine it would bring between 19K (Low) and 22K (high)..High being low original milage and lots of Docs(ie original Bill of sale, tank sticker, service records ect) Sounds like if the car needs frt and rear bumpers, paint and body work, new canvas top and interior work as well as the cost to get the car running correctly from sitting.. This will easliy run 10-12K..probably more..If he already has $10 in it he will be lucky to get anywhere close to that for it. Remember this is a plastic shark, if it was a chrome bumper car 68-72, the Finished value would be $25-30K at least..With out seeing the car I'm guessing 6-8K it's just hard to get !0K for a project car not running(even if it only needs a battery to start it) unless it is a very rare optioned car 72 or older..
Just my personal take on what I know at this point.. I will be coming to S.A. next week or so to pick up a aluminum manifold that I had polished by D & G ... I would be glad to come by and see it if it is not too far away.. They are at 35 and 1604 in north SA.. Where is the car located in SA?
Best Regards,
Cary

Cary, thanks for your input. The car is about 25 miles from where you will be; but it is on Hwy. 281 N which you could take back to Austin. E me for directions if this is something you might do. G.
