Default WTB - Feedback on CNV Corvettes Arizona

Hi all. I am finally taking the steps to buy my first Vette. I am scouring all dealers and websites I can to get educated and one of those I came across was www.cnv-corvettes.com in Arizona. They have some beautiful cars at what seem to be decent retail pricing considering the servicing and quality of the Vettes offered. Does anyone have any experience with them? I saw someone earlier got some feedback on another dealer in Atlanta and figured I'd ask about these guys since I didn't find anything. Thanks in advance!

Default Dealer Question

Did you have to tease me with my dream Vette (69 Convertible)? ;o)

Unfortunately, since my budget isn't as great as I'd like it to be ($8-12K) so I'm focused more on late 70's (prefer an L82, 79 with spoiler package). Otherwise, what you have is what I'd want! That is a beautiful 69 you brought back to life. Great job on it!

You can get a pretty decent 69-72 example for 12k, Personally I wouldn't buy off a lot, It's bad enough that some private sales think that because it says corvette it has to be worth big bucks, but usually Lots overcharge by a large margin.

Keep your eyes out here and on vettehound. Plus check your local classifieds and if you need help there is more than likely a member here close enough to you that would be willing to help you check out the car for some beer and pizza.

Default First Corvette

Thanks for the tip Madmikee. I agree that the pricing is generally higher from dealer, but depending on the reputation of the dealer (i.e. a Roger's Corvette in Orlando, Corvette Mike's, etc.) you've got a slightly better comfort level that what you are buying is truly a higher quality car that's been checked out in many cases. There's also more of a concern about reputation after the sale from a reputable dealer than a private seller who may have kept back a few secrets about the car just so they could unload it. At least that's what I've gleaned so far in my research.

In any case, I greatly appreciate any and all advice. To be more specific, I'm in Miramar, Florida (right smack in between Ft. Lauderdale/Boca to the North and Miami/Homestead to the South). So if any forum members are in those areas and have a nice lower mileage '79, L82 automatic with the front and back spoiler option up for sale, let me know. Colors are secondary right now to the specs above, but black, dark blue and yellow are preferred (not to say I will pass over a nice example in any other color). While not intended as a daily driver, I am interested in a weekender that I could also rely on to drive to events and shows as far as Orlando or the Keys occasionally. As close to original (i.e. no full engine replacements or repaints to a different color) as possible is preferable as well. That should hopefully cover it from a basics perspective. Looking forward to hearing from everyone and thanks in advance!!

Default Feedback on CNV Corvettes

I bought my 69 Vette from CNV and would never buy another car from them. Their cars look good, but need work. Mine came with a number of problems which CNV was aware of but chose not to fix. It cost me an additional $2100 to have the car repaired.
Your best bet is buy from someone on the forum because you know you will get a car that has been taken care of. If you buy from a dealer make sure he is reputable and look/inspect the car before you buy it. If you can't check it out yourself, I'm sure eomeone on this forum who lives near the dealer would be more than happy to check the car out for you.
Good luck with your search and purchase.

I'll agree with the above advice...look on this forum, vettehound, and other places, newspapers, internet, etc. and buy from a private seller...AND, either drive it and check it out yourself if you have the knowledge, or find a forum member to help...you will save a LOT of money that can go to fixing it up...good luck however you decide to progress..

I agree with buying from an individual preferably a member rather than a dealer. Seems the lots are much higher priced (Profit margin). I'm looking and have a few cars lined up to look at. I've discovered the hard way that I have a good eye since sharing with a "service" the vettem et.com a car I was following on ebay, while I received an email that I had great tastes in Vettes, I noticed within 2 hours of auction's end this "finder" service began bidding on "my car". I believe you search it thru till the end and if and only when you decide it is not for you, then share this info with someone who might be looking for that type of car. As for my lesson, it saved me from taking a 2000 mile trip since after the bids it wasn't worth it to me any longer. Good luck. I found my car, I just can't afford it! BTW 69-72 vert w/ auto
I apologize for the long post but I needed to blow off steam!

If "Vette n et" was bidding on their own listing, then it is illegal and should be reported to Ebay. Here is some info on that:

Q. What is shill bidding?
A. Shill bidding is the deliberate placing of bids to artificially drive up the price of an item. This is also known as "bid padding" and is not allowed.

Q. If I turn someone in for shill bidding, will they be suspended?
A. It depends on the situation. Many factors will be considered when determining whether shill bidding has occurred. These factors are carefully weighed. In the end, only bidders determined to be shills (based on the evidence) are suspended.

Q. Why isn't a seller suspended permanently the first time shill bidding is discovered?
A. Temporary suspension is serious, and sellers should take it as such. But eBay believes people deserve a second chance.

Q. What happens if the seller shill bids again after the temporary suspension?
A. If the shill bidding continues at any time after the temporary suspension has ended, the shill bidder will be suspended from eBay indefinitely.

Q. What happens if the seller sets up new accounts after the others are suspended?
A. Use of secondary registrations (new accounts) to avoid suspensions is cause for indefinite suspension of all participating registrants.

Q. Is a seller allowed to have more than one registered eBay account?
A. Yes, a seller is permitted more than one eBay registration as long as their reasons are legitimate. However, there can NEVER be any interaction (especially in the areas of bidding or feedback) between the accounts, and all user information MUST be accurate and consistent.

Q. Can sellers bid on their own auctions?
A. Not any more. eBay originally allowed sellers to bid on their own auctions as a way to close their auction without selling to the highest bidder. Unfortunately, this privilege was abused so it had to be eliminated. Now, bidding on your own item is considered shill bidding and is not allowed.

Maybe this will help your frustration. I know Id be over the top pissed!!

Your best bet is to buy from an individual vs. a "dealer". There aren't "deals" at a "dealer". Besides most good corvette owners will tell you the true history of their car. Stay on CF and you'll find the car. I think Roscoe C3's may have the car your looking for. Good luck and be patient! Keep posting WTB ads here.
