Default Turbo 350 Trans Help

I have a 79 L82 with a turbo 350 trans. The problem is when I shift from park to drive I get a hard bang. I first thought U joints or Rear diff.....NOT!! Turns out the output shaft of the trans goes counter clockwise ever so slightly then snaps back clockwise.

Anyone know if this is a linkage problem or maybe valve body problem?

Any help is abpreciated.
Thanks

have you checked the mounting pad on the front of your differential? next time look the other way and see if the differential is moving when you put it in gear.
