Default Hi From a UK C3 owner

Hi everyone.
My name is Dave and I have been browsing forum for some time and thought I would post some pictures of the car I have had since 2001 and say hello
It has been in the Uk since 1988 and I 'm the 3rd owner, it's done about 78k miles. I drive it as much as I can normally weekends and on the whole it is very reliable, battery going flat and some leaks aonly issues to date ( famous last words !!) Over here it is quite cheap to run as it qualifies for classic insurance, and next year it will be tax exempt as it is 25 years old. Fuel however is another story altogether. Great fun you don't get many cars with this much presence and the proper V8 sound.

Read with interest comments on here, which are useful especially for me
as you can imagine getting help over here is limited, we have a few specialist garages but they are some way from where I live. ( which is Newcastle -- about 4 1/2 hrs North of London, about 50 minutes south of Scotland)
I totally understand the appeal of these cars, and over here they literally stop traffic, people really are not sure what it is they see driving down the street.
I have had 2 strange experiences, one was a guy who was argueing with me that the car was a new model ( it was at night!) even though I owned the bloody thing he would not have the fact it was nearly 24 years old.
second much more satisfactory occasion was following a new convertible ferrari down near the coast, and everyone was pointing at the vette and completly ignoring the Ferrari , to say he wasn't pleased would be an understatement.

Anyway, here are the photo's if it has worked and you can see them.

welcome,

Is it an american car?
Got any inside pic's, I'd love to see the steering wheel on the other side of the car.

Yes it's an american Import and left hand drive, I thought about a conversion but it is quite costly and to be honest I have had a few LHD cars before and it doesn't bother me ( the only problem is ticket/ barrier car parks),
The interior is cream leather, I have some plans for the future, paintwork a bit tatty, leather needs cleaning up a bit etc

Very nice car...I have always wondered what the reaction in the UK is to the Corvette? I know that other kinds of cars are popular there.

Thanks a lot. reactions vary 99% really love them, most people think they are expensive to run. The big thing is the V8.
There are more american cars here now, we have Jeep dealerships every where, a friend of mine has one as a company car(Jeep!!). Chrysler crossfires , Neons are qlso sold in Right hand drive.

A good friend of a work colleague has the new GT40 on order ( it is nearly 1 year late)

Our soccer players are all ordering big SUV's with 24inch rims etc etc. It's the in thing for that crowd
It is great to see the superb cars on here and in particular the modifications ( getting some inspiration)

Thanks for the reply. In many ways the UK invented the sports car here in the US.....after WWII. Those GIs came back and wanted small..fast cars !!!!!!

Also true for Vietnam Veterans, I came home from the war and worked for British Leyland in Memphis Tn. Drove 12 cylinder "E" type Jags and even had a Triumph Stag. Not too many of those made it over here. They had an aluminum block V8 with pistons about the size of a Suzuki 250..lol.
Welcome John, Matters not where your from , you could be from the "Underworld" and own a C3 and be welcome here.

Many thanks for the welcome

Triumph stags , wow now there is one from the past, my brother had one .The biggest conversion was dropping in a range rover V8 as their original engines always seemed to blow.

My American V8 addiction started when I was about 7 , a guy on my street bought a 6.6 firebird I could hear it starting up from inside my house...
