Get a couple boxloads of thin latex gloves.
Snap them on before starting, and replace as required when they get cut.
Saves a lot of cleaning under the nails.

Every tool known to man, including the stone axe, with plenty of cold beer to lube them. Stone axe works great when FRIENDS lean on the car.

But seriously:

Shock mount tool
Ball joint/tie rod separator
Balancer puller/installer
Battery charger (for those long winters or when you leave the doors open)
Torque wrench
As many publications as possible including:
- Haynes manual
- Chiltons manual
- Clymers manual
- Assembly manual
- Restoration books
- "Rochester Carburetors" by Doug Roe
- printouts of everything written by Lars

Everything listed above

I'm gonna say the most important tool to have is another car to drive you to the parts store while in the middle of a project.

Steve above mentioned a torque wrench.

I have a Craftsman 3/8 drive that measures from 25 to 250 ft-lbs. Its a good idea to have this wrench and a smaller one that measures inch pounds too.
