Insurance totaled my car with a payoff I can live with.
Well the insurance totaled it
It was an 82 with 62,000 miles.
But they are paying me $15,374.49
or I can take $11,124.49 and keep the car.
I am pleased with the way State Farm took care of my claim

Take the $11K and keep the car... You can easily find a decent 81-82 vette that you will be happy with for $11K or less and you will never have to buy parts...I had a chance to do this with my 69 bb car when it was totaled and I didn't...I regret it everyday. If you have the space, keep the car.

I had state farm during my wreck too. They valued the car at 7k and gave me 5 and 1/2k after the salvage was deducted. I was able to have a corvette shop in my area fix the entire front end of the fiberglass from the wheel-well forward and repaint the car for 5k. I think you'll be alright.

No it was not an agreed value policy.
I only paid $6900 for the car so I think I'm going to take the money and run.
They figured about $9000 for parts (quote from Paragon) and labor.
I figured about $3000 in parts in my searching.
It could be fixed, I just don't have any room in my garage right now to keep it.

Take the money and keep the car ! Although most insurance are cheap you know whats and will nickel and dime you to death most of the time 15 grand to them is like you or me dropping a nickel on the sidewalk and wondering if it is really worth the effort to stoop and pick it up

Aluminum wheels, a complete cross-fire engine (OK, maybe not a lot of interest there?), underhood accessories and brackets, doors and side glass, etc. etc. etc.
Take the money and the car, and make money with the car.

Don't take parts off the car!
By pay you $15K plus, they are essentially buyingthe car as is from you. Anything removed is in effect stealing from them.
As for what to do, as said take the $$$ and RUN RUN RUN.

YOu can find a decent conditioned 80-82 for around 5 to 6 grand. A new Engine for about 5 grand. Interior work and accessories, 2 grand.
Somehow getting a faster, vette after going through insurance? Priceless.
