Keisler TKO 5 speed Group Purchase - Offer Extended Until 12/31!!
#241
I ordered a tko 600 from Keisler along with a high performance clutch kit and they arrived two weeks ago. The clutch is a Sachs PC1877-02 Power Clutch with the disc upgrade (copper-organic disk material).
Has anyone on the forum installed and tried one of these Sachs clutches in their vette? How do you like it and how does it compare to the Centerforce DF clutch?

yea, the install was weird compared to the normal way. you have to kinda install the clutch/pressure plate assm. with the tranny already in place! keisler gave complete instructions, and it can be done. i did it on the floor with jack stands. now i plan on making my crossmember removable, as ive found it to be a common mod.

Hi
That's what I also thought is best to do.
I ordered a GM/T56 Viper trans , unfortunately not from KEISLER, mainly because they didn't match the price tag of the place, I ordered from. Together with the clutch, required slip yoke and shortening of the shaft, it should be not much more than 3000 USD.
It will for sure not be more expensive than a TKO kit, but of course, I have to cut the tunnel a bit and make my welded crossframe a removable.
I might have to order a 2nd T56 Viper as a good friend doesn't want me to be the only 6 speeder C3 in our club.
So KEISLER has a 2nd chance to sell one.
Bad thing about all is the 25 % import duty to Europe, I have to pay, but with the USD being so weak now against our Euro, it will be cost me 3000 EURO once being over here. A couple of years ago, it would have cost me nearly 4000 EURO before having it in hands.
Sometimes, being patient pays out.
Good luck with all the TREMEC installs, be it TKO500, TKO600 or T56.
I wish everybody a prosperous new year. Gunther

I'm in! I almost ignored/missed this one. I was going to go with a Richmond 6-speed but this kit deal sounded way easy and priced OK. The low first gear and big rpm drop in second has always turned me off of the Tremec 5sp, but the TKO-600 has ratios I can live with, stronger too , and it does come out of NEXTyears budget.

tko600 on order from keisler
I finally decided to order Keisler's 5 speed kit. Managed to put it off until the last day. I had some trouble getting through, but the owner called me back after hours and worked through my order. I went with the option #2, clutch kit and shift handle. Not sure if they are open today, but there was a thread earlier that had the codes to get the discount online.
I was going to install a T-56 that I got out of an '02 trans am, but I wasn't happy with the amount of cutting that I would have to do to the frame and floor.
If anyone is interested in doing a similar swap, McLeod Industries offers an adapter plate to install an LS1 tranny to the old small blocks. It costs a couple hundred dollars. One problem with the adapter plate is that it moves the tranny back another .5" to 1" or so. The other problem for me is that my cam is a bit too lumpy for me to take advantage of the .5 overdrive.

Hi
As I mantioned already B4, my friend ordered his T56 Viper trans now as well, from Keisler, the complete kit for 4000 + USD.
Now we will see how different the mod is between his Keisler T56 and my ordinary GM/T56 Viper trans.
Will let you know if I think it's worse the extra 1000 USD +, the Keisler T56 costs in regards to what my one will cost at the end.
Hope you all had a painless start of the new year.

Darn,
I pulled the trigger a bit early. I just received my TKO this week, complete with the normal CF discount, thank you Keisler. It is a thing of beauty. The car is up on the air and I'm doing a mixture of transmission install and "while I'm at it" stuff.

Keisler quoted me $2300 for their 5 speed and complete installation kit for my 79.

Thats a pretty good price as well,I thought they were charging about 3500,the only thing about the keisler is I would have to cut the crossmember, would rather go with the mcleod if its available.

As for your group buy interests, as of this past Monday, they are no longer a Tremec distributor and therefore cannot buy the TKO's or the T56 Magnums at the dealer pricing they used to get. Not sure what they are going to do now, just talk to them about it first.

I'm hoping Richard from Tech Support will answer this. I also have the kits Sachs clutch new in the box. I could never find it online to get any specs. So I did not install it. Because it was the start of race season and I did not want to have to be working on it during a race day.
I would like to know how good is it?

That would be the T45R kit and not a TKO kit. The T45 is a 5-speed that came stock in the 1996-2001 Mustang GT's, Cobra's, Bullit and Mach 1's. It is rated at 325ft/lbs unless you got the 26 spline input shaft upgrade (then it is rated at 425ft/lbs they claim).
