Poll: hooker sidepipes- sterling or flat black coating?
Its time to get my sidepipes ceramic coated.
I cannot make up my mind what colour I want the sterling finish or flat black like they are currently painted.
So I have decided to let the forum decide.
Here's what she used to look like--- and willl look like when I get done the restoration.

Thats tough...Its taken me months to decide. I ordered the ceramic package from summit this morning. I think it would depend on the color of your car, and what type of wheels/rims you have. Ceramic does shine up nicely, and looks great with crome wheels...some of the guys on here have that package and those are some bad azz look'n cars. I had to do it too! To top it off I went with the Spiral Turbo Baffles. I'll post a pic when I'm finished...you do the same please. Check out this guys who I've not seen on this forum: http://www.c3sharktank.com/scott/my81now.html

Sorry about that.
Its a 78 that will be painted light mettalic blue(similar to 77 light blue) with stock ralley's on it for now but polished aluminum rims in the future.
I am in the process ofo trying to find my home page so I can post a picture.

I just destroyed my Hookers two weeks ago because I was "not happy"
I mentioned a few months ago that my Metallic Ceramic Thermal Barrier
Coated one year old Hooker Side exhaust setup peeled.
...no one believed me.
They looked like crap and kept peeling, so I went and sandblasted them with Aluminum Oxide or something of the sort. I bought some 1500 degree resistant black paint and painted them using 16 tins of the stuff.
Then had it baked for three hours.
Now they're black.
I still have my 90" piece of 308SS that I bought a few months ago, but can't find a way to bend the 4"ID SS pipe.
I'll have to cut it and then weld a 1/4 piece of a 90 degree U onto it.
The problem now is that my side pipe headers are black and I'll have a set of 308SS side pipes to compliment them
I'm trying to find a way to paint the headers chrome....can't find high temp chrome paint!!

I figure that that is what screwed my Hookers!!!
Hot Hookers getting splashed by very cold water as you hit a puddle every now and again.

bought mine chromed 14 yrs ago, then 7 yrs ago sent them to jet-hot and had them dechromed and jethot coated in the lustre finish. couldn't be happier w/the results. just took the sidepipes off to install the STS mufflers and the insides of the sidepipe look like new still.

Jet-Hot coated. Happy so far. Any marks seem to come off with just a little metal polish.

The headers were for my C4 vert, and it took about 8yrs for them to develop rust spots and to turn colors. Maybe I had a bad coating job, not sure but I think a couple members also had to send their headers back because of rust.
