Default Value of 3:08 rear for 80-82 ?

Hi, I don't usually visit the C3 forum but I'm here today for some information.

I have a 3:08 rear end dated 1979, with batwing, that came with the deal to purchase my C4 (1989) a couple of years ago. I've been storing it in the garage ever since. The outside looks to be in good shape.

I took it into a local Corvette shop to have it checked out.
I am told fits 80-82, and needs bearings and center pin.

I would like to sell this rear and I would like to know what it might sell for "as is".

Can anyone give me an idea of the value?

You could try calling a Corvette wrecking yard and ask for a quote (like you're interested in buying), on a rear end that fits 80-82 and needs bearings and center pin. That should give you a ballpark estimation.

Might wait for Van Steel to get back from Knoxville, he could give you a ballpark on what they are going for lately.

Well, made a couple of calls but I'm still not sure what it's worth.

If it needs a rebuild then you won't get much for it.If you just want to dump I'll take it for a vette tech class I run in New Haven.

If the center pin is shot, the yokes are too. Bearings can be purchased
at a bearing house or NAPA. The earlier C3 housing are stronger.

I may consider that.
Tell me more about this "...vette tech class..." you run in New Haven."
