Default Loose seat

Howdy,

Its been about three years since I have posted on here but I have been reading the posts most of that time. It is nice to be driving my '71 454 again after living in a different state from it for 2 years.

Anyway, my seats are loose. As in you push back and the metal button ends up hitting the fiberglass on the convertible deck, bummer. Its the entire seat, I think the rollers in the track are bad, but I havent taken it out yet, not sure how to. Looking on Ecklers and other parts sites I havent seen anything available for replacement rollers or tracks. I also didnt see any posts similar to this when I searched the forum. Maybe It because its too simple, any ideas?

The frame could also be cracked internally which causes it to bend with the same results.

The later model C3s have a rubber bumper that sticks to the convertible top right where the metal release button hits - that might be a quick fix to prevent further damage to the fiberglass in that area.

My seats were loose, I ended up removing one for an unrelated reason, one bolt completely gone, one about to fall out, two kinda half-tight Just reach in there with a wrench if you haven't yet.

One of the mounting feet on the drivers side had snapped off long ago. The seat would rock becuase of it. Had to have another piece of metal welded back on.

not to get personal but are you a big guy?? if so the internal frame is probably distorted and cracked.. these can be repaired and welded and ecklers and others even sell a new replacement part to weld on. also check those adjustable bolts on the bottom of the seat back.

Default thanx

Thanx for the info honestly all of those sound like feasable problems. Ill have to take a closer look when I get it back from the mechanic. I am a heavy guy and who know how heavy the person who had it before me was.

Any idea what those late model bumpers are listed as on the ecklers or other parts site?
