speaker grill removal
Before I go prying and breaking something can someone tell me how the speaker grills and defrost vent in the dash are removed in a 78
They appear to just pop out. Right or wrong?

If they are the same as in my '79 they just pop out. Usually by themselves when turning at an auto-X. Luckily I caught it before it launched itself out the window.
My passenger side speaker grill used to launch into the passengers lap on big bumps. That has been fixed with a very BUBBA couple pieces of double sides black sticky tape. BTW- this never happened before I put in the Kicker 4X6" speakers up front. They are about 2mm too tall... But they sound great!

Bend carefully on the speaker grills and they will come up. If you use a screwdriver be careful not to mess up your dash.
The defroster vent has a screw in the middle that you have to remove before you take the vent out.

Grab teh speaker grill in the center area with one hand and use your other hand to push one end towards the middle and they will pop right out.
The vent has the screw or screws holding it in.I took mine apart during an interior redo so I cant 100% remember how easy it was to remove.
I also want to say nice engine shot!!

Hey there....I just finished my interior resto. and the center defroster grille has a tab on each end. Just grab ahold and bend upwards to the middle, it should release and pop right out.
Good luck
