Hood release cable broke.
This afternoon My wife and I were going for a ride. I have not checked the oil in a while so I told her to pop the hood. She was'nt in the best of moods. She pulled the cable as hard as she could , the cable snapped and came out. I have been trying to open the hood for a few hours now. ANY SUGGESTIONS ?

Hood cable
Look over into the wiper bay in front of windshield. There is a rubber plug on each side of the car that you remove and insert a screwdriver into the hole and push the hood latch down to release each side.

I assume your talking about your 80. On my 71 I was able jack the car up and reach up to grab the cable that went across the hood and release it. If you cant get it I know where you live , I can come over this weekend with my hole saw kit.

Same thing happened to me last week on my 75-I believe yours might be a little diff--Like Burnt said I was able to get it from underneath but only on the passenger side--the driverside I popped out the plug took a screwdriver and got it open--I belive this is in Tech section and on Mid-America's tech site too--

I stupidly shut my hood in the middle of an adjustment and it would not open. to make matters worse, I have a long L-88 hood that eliminates the wiper door. After about a hour of kicking myself, I removed the egg crate from the side of the car and found it was easy to reach up there.
Edit: Oops maybe you cannot do that with a '80

It's very simply accessed through the plug on the windsheild wiper side and then using a long scewdriver to unlatch it. Check in the help files and you will see details with pics.
