72 454 intake casting number?

hey guys! two questions.... my vin on my 72 vette is 1z37w2s504XXX how can i find out when the car was built? also does anyone know the casting number for the correct intake on this car? its a 454. thanks for all you help! steve keech sarasota florida ps. i still need a distributor and carb for this car! :willy

As to the second question, the correct intake casting for the '72 454 is 6263753

thanks for the help robert. my casting numbers are hard to read but are correct. looks like the month is "G" which would be august. i think i have an early 72 car. steve

Look at the trim tag on the driver's side door pillar post. The letter followed by the number in the upper right hand corner will give you a close enough (1-2 days) time frame to guess when the car was finished. A07 would mean August 07, 71 . B08 would mean Sept. 08, 71, L26 would mean July 26 '72, etc., etc..
