Save the WAVE!
The other day I passed a late C3 going the other way. I wave and I know he saw me. He just looked at me. I can accept some C5 owners not waving, but a C3 guy?
I awalys wave at other vettes. My wife even plays the role of corvette spotter when she is with me.
BTW, I was in a 2000 FRC. I also have a 71 & 72.

I saw 2 red C4's and a 62 vert yesterday and only one C4 made a point to wave...he made very ovibious that i saw him wave. The 63 was at sonic. It had an older couple in it.. I tried 3 times to get them to acknowledge me and they looked at me like I was a nut...

Guys we go over this 4 times a month. This post has comes out a couple hundred times in the last few years. Maybe just maybe the guy just bought his 1st Vette and has no idea what the wave means. Eventually he/ she will figure it out, either way who cares. Why sweat it?

I think the simple fact is they have no clue. And I think it is because of the decline of the Gear Head people buy a Vette for cool not running hard like years before. So there are not many that wrench on them as much and so do not have the pride as the usual Gear Head had. It is just a car to catch people's eye with.
Drive it Hard but please Comb it down when done Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Hawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww . Edit was to add Yeeeeeee Hawwwwwww lol

You guys are right about this being a issue for a long time. In fact in one of my 1969 Corvette magazines, there is an article about 'saving the wave'. Interesting!

Re: Save the WAVE! (slaine)
I didn't know about the "wave" until a few weeks after I bought my first Corvette, a C4. I didn't know about the forum back then, either.
I found out about it by reading the C4 Owners manual cover to cover, and believe it or not they have a section about "the wave".
So unless the 'vette owner is active in activities with other vettes, or they read their manual, I doubt they do have a clue.
You know, it ought to be a mandatory instruction when purchasing a vette. If all these C5 owners had been properly informed at time of purchase there would be a lot less Vette fanatics complaining about it... :-)
I always wave, if I see the car in time. Heck I've even stopped to get gas just to chat with an '82 crossfire owner.
If a C5 waves, you know it's someone who at least cares they have a Vette, and not just some "sports car".

I always wave, sometimes even from our camry lmho, one time we were driving our 79 back to the shop where we work on it and it didnt have the front end on (look at my sig), and we got a very enthusiatic wave from a red C4, even chatted for a quick second before the light changed. I love it when people appreciate and understand what you go through to get these cars to look good and drive hard, that is why i love this forum
