I have run the TT'2's for the longest time now. Now that everyone
has them, I decided to make a move away from the crowd. I was
going with the HRE 540 3 piece wheel, at $1300.00 a piece. (really)
I decided to browse BOYD CODDINGTONS site one day, and what
do you know, he has a wheel kinda like the one's I like.

They post a one piece wheel on thier site. With only certain offsets.
after many calls to boyds, they decided to make me a 2 piece wheel
with my custom offsets. Jim said by doing this, there would be
no differance in the look. (AT ALL) completely the same style and look.
He said it would take 4/6 weeks to get them.
I got them three weeks later.
they do not look the same as the one's on their site, the spokes
are way thicker, the centers are fatter DAMN I WISH I HAD A PIC TO SHOW.
Anyway, my good news is I got them through DISCOUNT TIRE.
and they are not fully paid for yet. When I saw them I did not throw
a fit, and walk away. Who's fault is this? can I really lose my large deposit.
There are no refunds on custom made wheels. BUT, they did tell me
there would be no change in look by going to a 2 picece wheel.
For those of you out there that don't know, you can get custom
wheels from discount tire for a better price, than going straight to
the bigger company. I would have paid much more going through
boyds itself. What do I do here . I think this is wrong
on boyds side, for Jim telling me this. I think i deserve a refund
on these wheels for not being the sames one's they post. I mean
its the same wheel, just the center is so much different. :shocked:
what should be the first thing, or first person to call without
making a horror story out of this.
These are 17's, and with the photo chop with the one piece wheel
it even looks good. but with the centers on the real one's being
so thick, they look like 15's.

And to really top it off, thier polishing suck to. there were a lot
of area's where you could see scuff marks inside the spoke area
with a lot of the black residue from the polish.
LOTS. I am not making this sound like more than it is cause in mad.
But it is wrong.

If they are not right send them back and demand your money back. Order from someone else and sell me your TT2's cheap.

I sold both sets that I had, to help with my down payment.
I swear these look like a knock off for eagle wheels.
What **** es me off, is this is a well known company
with bad azz products. But when this happens to you,
people don't understand. I wish you could see the polish job it had.
I am gonna back and see if they will let me take a picture, and
maybe someone here can post the one off thier site and mine

I completely understand what you mean by a 17 looking like a 15 because of the center I just bought the wheel below in an 18 and it looks huge because they didnt make the center small like those awful looking "hellcat" wheels in the first picture. If you have ever watched that TV program in Boyd Coddingtons shop you would have never bought anything from those idiots IMHO. I would demand my money back and stand up for yourself! Good luck!

Man, you hit it on the spot with those centerlines, the
center is so big like that, you wont be able to see my brakes
or rotors much at all :mad I will stand up for myself, I am
not new to all this, But coming from from BOYDS, this should
have never happened. I am going to take a pic at the store
today and will post the wheel. If you want an idea of what they
are suppose to look like, go to BOYDCODDINGTON.COM
then go to their GOTCHA wheel. Its call the TUNED in a brush
finish there.

I went to boyds and stole a pic of the wheel you thought they were making for you it looks very nice I cant wait to see what they built for you and told you would be the same as that wheel.

I would be a PI**ED OFF as my buddy was when Boyd folded his last wheel company into bankruptcy with my buddy never recieving his already paid for wheels! The show, American Hot Rod is one of the worst shows about our hobby and Boyd needs to have his massive heart attack so my buddy can defile his gravestone (his words not mine!) I am sorry to see that you were taken by those idiots and I agree that the 2 wheels are nothing close to being simualr. The wheel you should have looked at was a Complete Custom Wheel made by a sponsor of the Corvette forum. My C5 buddies love em and they are simular to the original Boyd photo in appearance. I hope you can get a refund and do business with a more reputable company! They look similar, but they are really two different designs. The design they sent isn't bad I really like the ones you thought you were getting.

After watching that show, I'm not sure I would order anything from them either. They act like a bunch of idiots.

Now that I see what you got and what you wanted I have to agree the wheel you got looks small I dont understand why wheel companys do that. The wheel you wanted looks HOT and the wheel you got all be it nice looks like a run of the mill KMC Pacer or less expensive wheel.

You might want to look at Fikse wheels they are sweet!

I did, check out my site, on page 2. They sent me a mock up.
at $1020 a piece. I would just go with HRE's wheel.
I just can't see spending money like that, but may have to
if i want to move from the crowd

i really dont think they look that bad at all,they were the ones i originally was gone to get from them,but decided on the startburst.I guess some people have great luck with them(like i did) and some dont.
