Default Recommended Tires for a 69

We just bought the 69 we have been looking at. The first thing on my list are new tires. On stock 69 rims what size brand and model of tires do you recommend?

Well I ran 255/60/15's on all 4 corners. They fit fine until I added side exhaust and the rubbed on hard turns. I'm now running 235/60/15's fron and 275/60/15's on the rear. Much better and the car has a great stance as a result. Check my sig.

Did 275 60 15 fit on the stock 8 inch rim and clear all the suspension without modification?

I run 225 70R15. I would love to run a bigger tire but..... 255's hit the mufflers and the Emergency brake cable bracket. Each car seem to be a little different so ry them before buying a set bigger than 225's.As for brand... The choices are very limited in those sizes. Check ou Firestone PV40 or PV41(police vehicle. That is the only HP tire made in our size. They don't advertize them.. You have to ask.

All I did was relocate the E-Bracket, took maybe 10 minutes per side. A grinder and a welding machine and your done.

I used to have 235/60 15s on my car. With no power steering, it was tough driving the car at slow speed. I recently changed to 225/70s and like the way the car drives much better.

235/60/15's are good but, the Pirrelli Scorpion 255/60/15 tires are VR speed rated and will fit the stock rims. There can be parking brake bracket issues and the bracket on my 72 LT-1 is re-located to the top of the trailing arm. The Tire Rack will list a 225/70/15 as the size of our Vettes but, in 78-82 the 255/60/15 was installed by GM (Goodyear tires.)
