Street Avenger vs. Road Demon...
I'm about to buy a carburetor. I've heard good things about both the Street Avenger as well as the Road Demon. Which would you suggest and why. BTW this is going on a 350 with an XE268H, Edelbrock Performer Intake, and Headers. I'm looking at the 650/670 cfm models.
TIA,

I'm voting Road Demon just because recently I haven't had much luck with the Holleys being great performers. They'll get the job done but it seems like the Demons always do a little better in the performance category (probably because of the nice smooth venturis).
Have you thought about spending a few more $$$ for a Street Demon ?

I loved my street avanger. I still have it. I couldn't get the road demon to idle so I sold it. Probably something i was doing. if you so get a demon carb call there support line and they can tell you which one to use for your carb.

Tell us more about your setup. My choice would be with the Speed Demon if you are inclined toward performance and don't mind a bit of tuning. My last engine had a Holley Street Avenger and I was quite pleased with it....until I tried a Speed Demon!

I ended up going with the Street Avenger. I picked it up today. Hopefully I'll put it on this week. I'll be sure to give a full report.

Keep us posted. I have a new 670 SA ready to bolt on to a L-82 with Xe268 cam, WP Sportsman heads,RPM intake, headers, etc.
You should do a search to find Lars post on carbs,he said to check the throttle plates on new carbs because they aren't set right from the factory.

I have the 670 SA on mine. So far so good. The car fired right up and ran good. I had to adjust the idle speed down though. I need to check into that part about throttle plates.

Did you get yours installed? And how is it working?

Re: Street Avenger vs. Road Demon... (e3pres)
If your avenger came with the clear sight plugs, I would recommend taking them off. After about a year, they get hard and break. The head will either twist off if you are trying to take it off, or it will just fall off on its own. This leaves the threaded part in the carb still. Since the head had the gasket part on it, some leaking of gas could also occur.

I have heard that if you want all out performance, run the Demon. I have also heard from several people that the Demon runs rich at low RPM's. Not somthing you would want if you are cruising down the highway in overdrive.
If your not racing, get the Street Avenger
