Well, the planets aligned and my wife told me I should just sell the '78 and get a C5 so I could stop working on it and start driving.

So, I did! Got a sweet '01 6-speed Navy Blue Metallic Vert, Black top, black interior, loaded.

So, now the '78 project is up for sale if anyone's interested in making an offer...

This '01 is such an rush. HUD, Memory package, dimming heated mirrors.... jeez, I feel like I'm in a spaceship.

I learned a lot from working on the C3 for the last 3 years. And I learned a lot from all of you on the C3 forum... thanks.

Marc, You will enjoy the C5. My son has an 03, and we have done quite a few mods on it. Surprisingly, it has been real easy to work on, and the mods have produced good results. But of course it does very well as is, doesn't it. Enjoy, Hershey :chevy

Don't I know it! I just checked out a great 72 here in town and now, I want a chrome bumber real bad. You'll love that C5, with it's power on demand, sooooo smooth and the rush goes all the way to the redline. BTW, I love blue cars! :D

I find your post fascinating as it touches on Corvette ownership and personal priorities. Do you go up a generation up from C3 or back? That is when you start from a C3 with a limited budget. I put a lot of thought into that about a year ago and went back to a C2. But I must say that I saw some C5s at Carlisle last August at reasonable prices that gave me pause to reconsider my decision. But in the end I will live with what I have, despite its need for constant maintenance.

That is awesome, congratulations!! C5's are great, and I'd love to have one in my garage. Their fast, comfortable, and much better on gas than my C3. Good luck with it, and don't forget to wave!

I'd love to have a C5 or new C6 vert. but that will have to wait for a few years. Congrats on your new purchase :thumbs:

I do have to agree with you. That was the one thing nagging in my mind the whole time. But then I realized that at least the color combination I got is relatively rare.



Still, nothing will ever match the curves of a C3.
I will miss the '78, but I'm glad to be driving and waving now.

Nice looking ride. The more I work on this car, the more I want something that I can just drive... After my current project is done it should be done for a little while. As you can see, I too like the LS1 and decided that if I can't get a C5 now, I'll just take some of the best parts of the C5 and stick 'em in my car. Enjoy! :cheers:
