Bought mine recently from Summit...cannot remember the brand, maybe Accel (?). Anyway, well satisfied. Good quality and easy to make-up.
Also look great with the looms that attach below the rocker arm covers.

Summit is where I found these. What was the cost of the ones you bought?

You're not buying them thinking they are a performance item, I hope? Braided wires are for looks only. Yes, I know early sharks had them with FM radios for RFI purposes but there are much better ways to lower RFI these days (spiral core).

Braided wires typically have the spark jumping to the grounded braid after a few months.

That's what I would expect. Haven't tried them, I keep the wires away from metal, not wrap them in it.

Get spiral core.

same here. Here is a link to some pics of my 74. I have looms running down the side that will secure the wires. I would just like some advise as to these being a cool item for the looks or crap

It is easy to make your own. Pick up some braided shielding from a surplus store and install on your new wires before you put the dist end on. Use a pencil or chopstick to poke a hole though the braiding a few inches from the end leaving a pig tail to crimp the ring teminal on which gets bolted to the valve cover and dist shielding. Use high temp wire tyes to secure the braid to the wires. I made a set years ago and just keep reusing them with new wires. I ran them over the top using a original big block as a guide. I have never had a problem with grounding out the wires.

Sounds interesting, but what kind of surplus store sells the appropriate size braided steel tubing?

Aircraft surplus or electrical surplus. It is just the wire braid part woven in the shape of a tube. It is used as grounding straps just by crimping ends on. You can open it up and shove wires though to shield them from electrical interferance. Comes in lots of different sizes and materials, plated copper or stainless are best. I think it is the same stuff that they sell to make fake braided hoses. Surplus it is dirt cheap, even if you buy it new it cant be that expensive.

Braided spark plug wires are bad performers.

Too much capacitance. makes for a weak spark.

Stock my wires came shoved into sheet metal shields and ran from the top to the bottom of the engine and back up again up against metal the whole way. Twenty years ago I wanted to run them over the top and couldnt find a pain black set. I dont like bright colored wires. I wanted them to look stock, if not stock small block then stock big block. Currently I use MSD wires wrapt in the original braiding I made. The braiding lasts forever and the wire protected from radient heat seems to last longer to. I have had never had a problem with them. The headers will burn the boots but not the wire.
