Default Rear end diagnoisis - Wheel bearings or universals ??

To all you corvette proctologists -

Have noticed a loud squeak squeak when travelling at slow speed coming form the rear left. When going slow no real vibration but travelling at 100kms I get a strong shudder on acceleration and deceleration. When I have a neutral throttle setting the shudder disappears. Im thinking more likely a uj either rear propshaft or driveshaft. :nopity:

Any opinions or similar problems

I agree, a wheel bearing would more than likely not be affected by accel or deccel. Although if your wheel bearings are original, they probably are needing replacement.

Sounds like a u-joint to me. If the squeak-squeak-squeak speeds up and slows down in direct proportion to the speed you are traveling it's most likely a u-joint. You can check each for any play by twisting by hand back and forth (any play is reject). It's not all that big of a job to replace them, having a oxy/acetylene torch helps a lot, those things really get socked in tight after 25 or 30 years.

I'm thinking u-joint also but on the driveshaft b/c of the vibration. Also check your trans mount.
