Default The proof is in the pudding (C5s vs C3s)!

I drove my C5 to my parent's house this morning. As I drove through their subdivision, I passed a group of about 12 guys playing basketball. I never got a second look! Two hours later, I drove my 71 coupe back to my parent's house and passed the same group of guys, still playing basketball. The game came to an abrupt halt as the C3 cruised past. They were still staring as I disappeared around the corner half a block away. I guess the proof IS in the pudding as they same around here!

Hey, Rick! I agree. My '79 is by no means a show car, but I get a ton of looks everywhere I go. I love the C5's technology and relative comfort, and I plan to own one in the near future, but there is something about our C3's that make people take notice.

I tend to get as many looks in my C5 with the top down as I do with the C3. Far and away, though, I get 100X more looks and reactions when I drive my old Triumph TR-3.

It really just depends on how many like cars are on the road where you live. There are a good number of C3s around my hometown...certainly more than the number of C5s. There are three TR-3s in the county.

To me there is no comparison I like the C5, great car might buy one to drive to work someday, but nothing compares to tromping on the gas in my '80 and everthing starts vibrating and you can smell gas oil and the sound of the dual exhaust is almost ( but never will be ) too loud.

You can't and will never will get that in a C5, you might as well be in a living room on wheels sipping sherry as I remember a quote from one member.

I see kids stop dead in their tracks on the sidewalk and their jaws drop when I go by, they just don't do that for C5's :D

BTW I am not knocking C5's I think they are fantastic cars, just like C3's better.

As for comparisons, I just wish I had my Z06 chassis, suspension and power train in my 71 coupe. The power of the Z06 is absolutely awesome compared to my small block 71. 71 C3 looks and 02 Z06 power and handling, now that's inspiring.....absolutely inspiring!

Rick,

All of the nice classic cars get looked at. I do it myself and I grew up with them. Just not that many around these days except for the weekends.

Rick, I know what you mean. When the wife and I are following each other to an event; she always gets "crowd reaction" to her 1973 along the wayand I seldom do with my '02. I wonder if its her and not the car????

Rick, well said...
I dropped by your house a couple of times as of late, Monday night and today to see your Z06. You had a family gathering or something Monday night so I didnt knock. Hot wired your Z06 and took it around the block though.hehehe
Took my vette out today and stopped by. I went and seen Steve at the Dodge dealership and the ole C3 drew a crowd in the lot. I don't think any of the sales people were left inside. Even the finance manager came out....
When I put gas in a guy in a Jaguar came up and asked a bunch of questions too. Said he just bought a 82 vette..cool
Hope to see you soon

Went out for a cruise today and passed 2 fine looking ladies. They pulled up beside me and stayed beside me for about 3 miles before I had to turn off. They where smiling from ear to ear and giving me the  . I also get alot of female attention when I go to the park. I love my 73'.

Rick,
if you're willing to do some parts swapping on the '71, you could have it eatting the Z06's lunch. best thing is you could keep all your old parts for restoring in the future. just a thought, Brian
