Default 1974-1982 defend our cars in the C6 section

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=717325

Out of all the cars pictured above, I don't think the C6 front end looks like the Ferraris at all, but rather the RX-8 and Honda S2000. Great, now the Corvette looks like a ricer! As for the C4 being the ugliest Corvette ever, I have to disagree. The 1974-1982 'Vettes are by far the worst looking and most lame performing cars in the history of the marque.

I wouldn't bother. We all know that REAL Vettes were made before 1984.

I can stomach the 91-96's, but the C5 looks like a generic ricer with a big ugly butt.

I hear you '78vette.. I have a '79

I saw that response earlier today, but didn't feel the knucklehead even deserved a response. I get glowing comments every day about the lines and looks of my '79 vs C-4s & C-5s and I do have 285lbs torque, so it's not too wimpy either.... anyway to B Madden

Defend ANY C3, THE sexiest car ever mass-produced, to the guys who'll spend $60k+ on the demon-spawn-offspring of a Viper/Miata crack-induced one-night-stand? Good luck actually' working' on your own car, buddy...
Great, now the Corvette looks like a ricer!
No, it has looked 'ricey' since March of '83 (although I've grown fond of the C5s; they at LEAST have 'curves'...)
As for the C4 being the ugliest Corvette ever, I have to disagree.
Disagree, if you'd like; you'd be in a very small minority. Style-wise, C4s are nothing more than long-wheelbase/stretch-limo Mazda RX7s.
The 1974-1982 'Vettes are by far the worst looking and most lame performing cars in the history of the marque.
What would he call a 'Blue Flame' 6-cylinder/Power-Glide '53-'54 model?
"Spirited performing"?

Personally, I'd take 3 low-mileage, well maintained C3s over a single C6, and have money left-over to build a nice, 3-bay garage for them.

Well, performance isn't their strong suit....

You can take a position on the looks, but those smog motors just don't move.

If the guy actually knew anything about Corvettes and performance cars in general he would realize that all cars of those years had horrible performance due to emissions standards of those years.

Some of the best looking Corvettes I have ever seen have been late C3's. Take for instance Groovyjay's car. That is one of the coolest Corvettes I have ever seen in my LIFE. Let the guy have his own opinion and not even change his own oil. :cuss

Thats funny.........I have an article somewhere (it was an old Corvette Fever article) about Zora Duntov saying that his favorite 'vette to drive was the 74 454 with the auto trans...I guess someone may have to explain to certain memebrs of the C6 forum who Zora Duntov was. :D
I guess it would take Vin Diesel or Paul Walker to say it for them to listen :jester

Let them think whatever they want to think. In my opinion, the 1968-1982 Corvette is one of the best looking and best designed cars of all time. I mean, the C3 won "Best All Around Car" in Car and Driver's Reader's Choice Poll 4 times in a row ('68-'71). How many times has a C4 or a C5 won something like that?

I also remember an article with Zora that said the C3 was a major aerodynamic improvement over the C2. The front end lift at speed was a major problem with the C2. I think the C3 is the best looking of all. I can stomach the C4, but the C5 (and C6) are flat and wide. Let them say what they want, we know what we like.

He's right about the C6 being ricey, though. I'll bet it goes snap, crackle, & pop if you put milk on it. :D I

Ignore it. :yesnod:

EVERY time I take out my '79, somebody asks about the car, as in, "Is that your Corvette?" How often do you think a C4 or C5 owner gets asked about their car?

In the minds of most people, the C3's are the REAL thing!

In the spring I'll stomp all over a Z06 (at the track of course) with a 406ci motor I built in my basement and my car is better looking :lolg:
