Re: Custom Headlights (GrandSportC3)
The little headlights you mention from a Z28-grandPrix etc: are lot of $$ $25 for one from Advance Auto--I have replaced 2 on my Z, I couldn't believe the price--

Glen - please stop posting your incredible pics, I can't take it anymore I tell ya they are just too  for words. You should be working for Corvette as one of their designers. I eagerly await the completion of your vette. Btw did you get the decklid finsihed yet?

I haven't even started anything beyond the nose. I finished two major house projects this year.
I constructed four 10' diameter brick circles around oak trees, complete with a concrete foundation, drip system, white marble rock and oh yeah, did I mention they were on a 4:1 slope. Laying brick in a circle that disappears into the earth keeping each course level was very slow . . . I averaged 12 brick/hour.
I also wrapped up the fountain project from last year that took sooooo much more time than I'd planned.
I'd be happy (and proud) s\to send you some pics of my work. :D

I have some repair work to do to my headlights but I have been looking at these newer cars and there projection beam headlights. I was thinking of doing something similar to what Ferrari has done on their 360 Modena.
What do you guys think? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6212

I couldn't find a good undead picture...but the violin fits. If you guys just want more light...
I consulted Daniel Stern on all my headlighting decisions and he taught me much of what I now know. My headlights are Cibie CSR lenses that have built in city lights. If you ground the city lights and connect them to the parking light feed (since the LEDs actually reduced the load on these wires), they will light up when the parking lights are on. I had to remove my headlight blinders for this to work and now my car looks like a ’68 from the front. I have no problem with that. The Cibie CSR lenses are the latest and greatest in the headlighting world and are designed for C3s. Go to http://www.danielsternlighting.com/products/csr.html The cost is $111 a piece.
I have upgraded the H1 and W5W bulbs in these units. It is not necessary, but certainly fun. http://store.candlepower.com/h1bulbs1.html is the site to visit. This is also owned by Daniel Stern. My bulbs are the Osram Night Breaker® +90 Ultra High Output 55w H1 Bulb . These will use 65 Watts when the car is on. The 100 Watt bulbs are illegal for street use, so this is as bright as you can go. The life of these bulbs is 300 hours verses 500 hours. The cost is $22.18 a piece. Do not put LEDs here as you will not get a full beam – very dangerous.
The W5W bulbs are basically 194s (like your side markers, but a use a greater current and create more life). Go to http://store.candlepower.com/pamalidolitr.html to upgrade your city bulbs. Mini wedge base upgrade bulb - stage 2 priced at $4.20 are the best and use 6 Watts. Do not put LEDs here as your headlights will burn them out.

Problem with that is that most states have a minimum height requirement, and mounting them as you show them doesn't cut the muster....unless you opt for a 4 inch suspension lift.

I was tired of the old rectangle headlights. So after over 6 months of waiting for Susquehanna Motorsports to get their act together and mail me my lights. I finally got them installed. The old headlights have nothing on these projector beams. I still have to make the headlight bezels. But I'm in the middle of a t56 install so that will just have to wait till I have time.

Here's the link but you might have better luck getting them from another source. I was not happy having to wait 6 months for these lights and they took payment imeadiately after I placed the order.

This is the actual page from the catalog that has the lights I used. I used the HL68136 High Beam and HL68137 Low Beam module. They don't list the connectors but they are Hella specific, and the Adjusters come with the headlights but it doesn't say that and the webpage will list them as accessories. Its probably best if you just call them if you decide to go with them to place the order.
My idea is to "french" the lights in but it will be a removable piece with a lexan cover similar to a c6. The Light moudles don't really have enough depth to them to really french them into the body lines of the vette. Too steep of an angle.
Good luck.
