I'm thinking real hard on this one. There's no PERFECT C3 in my eyes.

Maybe a 69 coupe, radio delete, no options. Base engine, M20.

From there, I'd install an aluminum big block, large port cylinder heads, MPFI and a good solid roller cam. Swap the M20 for a ROD or something better.

Maybe go to C4 suspension all around.

Custom paint job. Red with white baldwin motionesque stripes.

Nice corbeau seats. JCL Spiral Baffles coming out of sidemounts.

If I had to pick one C3- stock for stock.. that I had to order, it would prolly be a 78 L-82 Pace Car with M21. Good performance, comfortable. Wouldn't be something I couldn't drive in the rain, like my little dream beast.

I wouldn't, I'd get a Nickey/Baldwin/Yenko 427 Nova.
Wait...I'M ON THE WRONG THREAD!!!
Wait...no I'm not...I WOULD buy those cars if me and Peabody and Sherman could fix our "wayback machine" :D

Okay...if it HAD to be a Vette, I'd buy the Baldwin GT Vette.

One of the reasons I love my vette is because it is almost exactly what I would have ordered if I was in a position to buy a vette in 1968 (or late 1967). Convertible, 4spd, color: I love "International Blue". Power steering, don't need power brakes. Sure, 3 carbs is nice, but I am not the type to spend a lot of extra money for less driveability.... There's a reason why so few L88s were sold. It was an expensive option and not practical for daily driving. No RADIO for cripes sake!! MJ

With a L88 with sidepipes you could not hear any type of radio. For me a L88 conv. would be the car of choice.

I've done this with every generation of Vette. Ah, to dream. Mine would be the 1971 LS6/M22 coupe. Then load it with every option available. A31, C50, C60, ZQ1, J50, N37, PU9, UA6, U79. Total cost: $8,013.80 I would have considered the ZR2 option, but that prohibits many power/radio RPO's. And the color combo would be Nevada Silver/Red interior.

I got old of an original AM-FM stereo for my '69, just because the aftermarket radios look goofy, IMHO.

But I rarely or never bother to turn the radio on.
