Default Cubic Inch - Rod Ratio calculator

For those of you that are playing around with different bore / stroke / rod length combos here is a very basic calculator for Excel. Enter any bore and stroke and it will give you the cubic inch. Enter the rod length and it will give you the rod ratio. You can look at 64 different combos at one time.

If you would like to see any changes to it, let me know.

Hey Pete, Speaking of rod ratio have you heard about the variable geometry reciprocator? It does wonders for rod ratio. Some guy (Ken Towler) in Georgia came up with the idea of a slot in the piston rather than a hole for a wrist pin. The small end of the rod is allowed to move side to side as the engine rotates. This causes the rod to swing around a point that is higher than the actual wrist pin (and usually higher than the piston). Thus giving an effective rod length much greater than the actual length. We all know the benefits of greater rod length so this is a truly incredible idea. I guess the guy has run a few prototype engines but nothing really hardcore. It seems like a great idea to me, I just hope the application works as good as the theory.
