I calling :bs with only 547 miles why is the intake show rust, must be a resto, it does look pretty clean but $25k is a bit much.

:iagree:
it is highly unlikely that someone put away a 79 as a future classic or stored it for 25 years without driving it.

It is pretty clean. Might be real. With a one owner, maybe you could talk to them and ask WHY?!?!? It's not an anniversary edition, not a special edition, it's just a plain (but very nice) 79 Corvette. I think the price is high too. With all that stuff sitting still for 25 years there is bound to be gremlins show up if you actually tried to drive it. I would rather have a fully restored 79 to drive than that one for $25k

Pretty car but I'm not buying the mileage, and the price is WAY ridiculous. If the car is mechanically as fit as it's nice finish and interior, and all is original I'd say 14K, and that's generous.

I believe the mileage, mines cooming round to 547 again
Could be someone stored it new as an investment I know of some idiot around here that bought 10 Cadilacs the last year for convertables '76 or so.
Something about outlawing convertibles at the time after that year can't remember exactly, anyway I don't think the guy made alot of money.

It's a very nice vette, but it's still not worth anywhere near $25k :skep:

The price is high but I buy the originality. The intake is L-48 cast iron and these cars showed some rust right from the factory: the paint burned off very quickly and exposed the metal. If you look closely at the underhood wiring it is clean as a whistle. Same with the interior. Nice car for $18,000. Had a 1979 for 17 years. Know them well.

As a used Corvette dealer here is my $.02. The car is a real one. You can see that the car has the original Goodyear GT Radials tires on it. That style of tire was only used on 78-79 cars. On 80-82 they switched to the Eagle GT.
As Paul said the intake is cast iron and they were rusty right from the factory on some cars.
There are more 1978 Corvettes with under 1,000 miles on them than any other year Corvette. People bought pace cars and anniversary cars new and stored them for future investments.
Just in the area where I am located I know of several very low mileage C-1, C-2 and C-3 Corvettes. I have sold just this year the following low mileage cars:
1982 with 18,000 miles
1982 with 11,000 miles
1981 with 14,000 miles
1980 with 10,000 miles
1979 with 13,000 miles
1973 with 27,000 miles
1967 with 49,000 miles.
The cars are out there and you would be suprised how many are close to home. I just went to look at a 66 coupe with 13,000 original miles that is still sitting on the original tires and the car looks like it was just built yesterday.
In our local Corvette club we have serveral members who have low mileage cars that they bought new in the 60's and 70's.

That car is the real deal, Joe Conte would not represent it that way if it weren't. As far as value is concerned an ultra low mile 1 owner corvette of any year is highly prized by many collectors. Someone could run this car through the NCRS, Bloomington Gold, Chevy Vette Fest and achieve the triple crown with no problem and have a lot of fun doing it. It would not surprise me if he got close to the asking price. :chevy

I missed those Goodyear tires. They were on my 1979 when I bought it in 1986 with 17,000 miles on the odometer. I sold it this summer with 47,000 miles on the clock; some 17 years later. I sometimes wonder why people do not believe that there are people like me that only put on 1,500 miles a year. Low mileage cars are out there.

I'd jump on it - It's the only L-42 '79 built.

GM was forced into GM "Corporate Blue" in the mid 1970s after an Oldmobile buyer found a Chevy Orange 350 engine in his new Olds. This was at the time of GM engine consolidation: a number of GM Divisions went corporate with the Chev 350. He sued for an Olds engine and I believe he won. But in any case GM wanted to avoid further aggravation so in mid-1977 or so the Chevy orange became corporate blue. So that engine is correct.
