Your test result are inconclusive since you were driving around in traffic and you can't really control for differences in traffic. The only way to really find out if the air intake setup makes a difference is to test it on a dyno.................................... ........................................ ........................................ ..................................... There won't be too much difference on the dyno... The reason is that usually the hood is kept open during dyno runs and fresh air gets to the assembly with or without the cold air intake... Only if the dyno runs would be performed with closed hood you would see what the difference is...

Well - actually - that wouldn't be 100% accurate too because the temps under the hood on a stationary vehicle would rise more than on a driving vehicle.. For example.. In stop and go traffic - the intake air temp rose to 130 degrees.. but it stayed at 104 degrees at 70 - 80 mph... Dynoing with the closed hood would show the HP difference only on a stationary vehicle which would be much higher than on a driving vehicle...

:withstupid:

Very nice looking setup.

I don't know much about these things, but it seems that in the winter your setup will give more than the 8hp gain you currently are getting. It might be just what you need to break into the 11's

Good luck with it, and keep us posted!

Olivier,
wouldn't it have been a lot easier to snag an air cleaner housing from a model with cowl induction (you know, the ones with the rubber seal around the top)? Or do not all Vette's have the cold air tunnel in the hood?

Those wouldn't work with my car...I have a completely custom Vette and hardly any stock parts would work with my car..

Just checkin - I know you have the tilt front end...

Looks great! Every little bit helps, and 8HP is nothing to sneeze at - especially from a "free" mod, ya know?

It wasn't really free.. The project cost me a total of $60 (including the drop base air filter setup) + $70 for tools

You could also try the trays made to fit on the carb and to an air scoop ...they sell em in summits catalog , but they run about 100 bucks ...I,d like to see some forced air into such a system ....maybe some duct work up to the front nose area ????

I'm actually thinking in building a ram air setup.. However - it will be something completely different than anybody has ever seen :D :D :D

I to am designing a ram air setup from the front. I will be using fiberglass for the duct work. Only concerned about picking up water.
