Default Went for a Sunday cruise..ok, I pushed it out of the garage really

It was a beautiful day here in Tenn so I pushed the vette out of the garage ro attempt to crank it up again. The last time it ran was a year ago and I had pulled the aluminum heads off and put a stud kit in. I did a static valve set and closed it up until today...

Rule #1.. Have a good battery ready..I had the same one from over 3 years ago from when I started the frame off and it had been just laying around.. having 10 and half compression put the hurt on it :yesnod:

Rule #2.. Have the plug wires in the correct order on the distributor before wearing down a wore out battery...yea, it pop and weezed some and sputtered on..can't figure out how it was running ..wife looking at me crazy

Rule #3.. Got the right firing order and varooooom... we have 388ci of motor running and my 4 1/2 year old running away with his hands over his ears.. :)
Wife now pointing down at the ground in front of the vette as a red fluid runs from a loose hose clamp at the radiator transmission cooler.. :skep:

Got everything tightened down and ran the motor off and on for a hour or so..Man it felt good to hear it run again.. The vette is still gutted out.I just ran a hot to the distributor and used a remote starter. Put the vette in neutral from underneat and let her rip. It is a funny feeling though the first time I rapped the motor and the car felt like it was starting to take off..so I put it in park..heheheh

Gave the vette a good washing and pushed it back into the garage...I hope to enjoy it later this fall if all goes well....
Thanks for letting me ramble
Neil in Tenn.

Nice story, but you gotta drive that thing a little more often. :)

It's not how "often" it gets out...

its the % of the time on the road that he has the pedal to the floor that really means something to me. I h8 guys who won't bag on their car....myself, i'd take my car off the road for a year to do some crazy 383ci job.

Then I'd let it break in, then I'd break it. :smash: :smash:

NICE SIDEPIPES NOMAD...They match the condition of the rest of the car ;)

Neil, you should have got you a bucket to sit on and drove it around the block! :D Maybe lay a little scratch out in front of your neighbors house, to sort of condition them to what it's going to be like this fall.
I bet it sounds great! The car looks great, it is going to be better than new when you get finished with it.

Smokehouse69,
I will do that as soon as I put in the steering wheel and hook up the brakes.. :yesnod: My goal was to be able to smoke the tires when I finished so we will see what happens

In fact, I may take it to the local cruise in one night completely gutted out and see what kind of comments I get

Congrats Neil, I'm excited for you. It's been a long road but you no doubt will have the finest Corvette in the area.

Dave, had he applied Rule #4, he would've had other Vette freaks around when he realized he had the firing order wrong. Nothing more embarassing than other guys catch you on a simple mistake.

Neil, she looks beautiful!!! Keep plugging away, can't wait to hear about the first drive.

Thanks for all the encouraging words....
I went and got the hood yesterday but will wait to install it after I finish the engine compartment projects.
I would of never got this far if it were not for this forum....
Thanks to everyone

You need a rear sway bar for driveway handling ;) . But don't get one too big!

You have every right to be proud of your work. It looks awesome. It does sound good when it has been that long. :iagree:
