dreaded electrical problem
I was out for a drive today, stop at Buddy's BBQ eat and jump back into the car, guess what no go go. The electrical system was not giving me anything, no lights, no hazards, no buzzer, nothin'. I messed with the battery cables, as I have had a loose connection there before, the usual wiggle didn't work this time. :cry Well $50.00 bucks later for a tow and it's now in the garage. I used a voltmeter and determined that I have 12 volts at the battery, but nothing works, no juice. I'm not a corvette electrical guru, what do you guys suggest I check next?

Re: dreaded electrical problem (74 vert)
So your battery has 12V but nothing in your car works...
The battery +ve runs via a big thick cable to the starter solenoid. From there the power for the entire car runs via a smaller wire, through a fuseable link (fancy name for a fuse), to everything else. Measure your voltage from your starter to the frame, should be the same reading as what you read right at your battery. If its less then check your connections at your battery. The battery grounds right to the frame so make sure that connection is clean as well. If you have any dirt or oxidation on any electrical connections use a file or sand paper to make your connection shiny.
If you read a nice 12V at your starter the next thing to check is the fuseable link. Not sure about your year vette but most fuseable links are inline with this power wire, a small white plastic cylinder thingie. Sometimes the fuseable link sits right in the firewall. You can strip some wire insulation off after the link to measure, or if you don't like that idea find where this wire runs to and measure for 12V. If no 12V after the link but yes 12V before the link you have a bad fuseable link.
Make sure you post a follow up and let us know what you find. Good luck! :conehead
Since you have done the obvious i would look at the starter solenoid and the wiring going to it .Good Luck.If all that looks good could possibly be ignition module
