Why don't you have a block shipped by boat/ship it's much cheaper I bet. It will definetly take longer but in the long run you will be better off...

yeah, airfare is cheaper than shipping. I am thinking about going to the Us and bringing some suitcases too.

As for the block, I got a quote for around 650$ or so. I think it was USPS or it may have been Direct Container Line. Can't remember. UPS quoteed me 3000$ to send a hood, they must be on crack voer there

OH, you be surprised how much it varies to ship anything in/out of the states...the prices are all over the map....I find bus company to be about the most reasonable...bus service from one major city to another, and me/customer do the terminal p/u-drop/off....cheapest way....

another thing is Post office....people don't think of that much anymore, but they will not take engine blocks....even I know that much.....

I absolutely hate those Mailbox.etc type places...they take UPS and over triple the price....so much for retail rental space....

You might want to consult an ex/im broker...they really familiar with shipping onesey twosey type things alot, and they might be able to get you off the hook for SOME import taxes and such...at least advise you on rates/charges/facilities etc.....

Maybe you should try companies which bring parts etc. stuff from USA many times a year. They have containers full of stuff and they are more than happy to bring your block also in their containers if they have room for it, usually they do... I was asking about prices to ship whole engine and it will cost something like 500USD from Florida to Finland, maximum! On top of that of course the pays for getting the part to harbour or packing place in USA and getting it from harbour to your home... Anyway much cheaper than any other way!
