Default Parts interchange for harmonic balancer?

Anyone know if the balancer on the '69 big block was used on other Chevy BBs? I've been looking at Chevelle & Camaro balancers on ebay--

When I bought a new one for the 454, there was no specification as to Chevy model or year. They had ad one listing Chevy BBI think it's 8 inches in diameter. I think I paid $59 from Competition Products.

PN 3879623 - 8" Torsional Damper is available from GM Performance Parts. I believe it was what originally came on 1967-69 427 engines.

I wonder if it looks like the original part? The reason I'm looking at the Chevelle & Camaro balancers is I'd like a balancer that looked original, and maybe even was dated coded correctly. If a part has the word "corvette" attached to it on ebay, the bidding tends to go through the roof--Camaro and Chevelle parts seem to go a little more reasonably, and if a balancer from something like a SB Nova or something would fit and look right, I could probably get it for a song.

I wonder if it looks like the original part? ....
The description in the 2003 GMPP catalog page 129, says "This 8" diameter torsional damper is designed for all internally balanced big block V8s. It was originally used on 1967-69 427 ci engines."

They also specify to use damper with crankshaft pn 3967811 and chromed timing pointer pn 12342001. I think the crankshaft in your 69 may be 3882849 (427 - Except Special High Performance HD Aluminum cyl and case)

In that case the damper would be pn 3860008 (1965-69 396,427 except Special high performance HD Aluminum cyl and case)

PN 3860008 is available new from your Chevy dealer as GM Restoration Parts.

I check the '68-82 parts inter-change book and it looks like they list all '66-72, 396-427's Passenger & Hi-Po's and some 400's as using the same balancer. Starting in 1970 they list the 454's separate. Can't imagine what the difference is----Is the 427 internally balanced? The 454 Mark IV is externally balanced. :chevy
