Default hoods,carbs and intakes

my 454 has a holley spreadbore 6212 that is in bad need of a kit or replacement, so i was thinking of getting a 770 street avenger. but i would have to have a spreadbore to sguarebore spacer to make it work on my stock intake, so now the million dollar guestion is will the hood close with the spacer, and i already have a dropdown air cleaner . or is there a better answer out there.

Put some modeling clay (or playdough) on the aircleaner/carb setup that you have now. Put a piece of wax paper on the clay and close the hood. Open hood and measure the clay.......that's all the clearance you have and if you spacer is thicker than that clay, well start looking around for an aftermarket L-88 hood. :flag

The answer is yes it will close. I have used the AutoZone adaptor, Holley 770 Avenger and a drop down air cleaner. I think I had to find a filter that was 2" instead of the 3-4" most use. Clearance in tight but uinder the stock 73 cowl hood it works.
