Default rim resto

I'm looking for a few older posts that told the best ways to restore your rim. Or, if you know of a website, that would be great.

You can try using the search function. I recently looked through those threads (be sure to select archived topics from the drop down menu) and it sounds like a lot of elbow grease + mothers aluminum polish does the trick. A conical air buffer wheel with aluminum compounds would probably the fastest and easiest though.

I've tried the search. But I cant seem to search for the right words. I get a bunch of stuff about new rims, and shipping costs, and stuff like that, not restoration.

I finally found something. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=262634

But it mostly talks about aluminum. I'm not for sure, but I think my rims might be magnesium. I know they are the originals. Do they still have a clear coat to take off before I try to sand down?
