Default Tight fit

Has anybody been able to pull out the vacuum tank on a 69 without pulling the brake booster,
And would solder work to patch a hole or must it be welded

Or should I just do a buba and by the smaller 80-82 can and put it on the other wheel well.

I wouldn't waste my time on solder. Solder can be very finicky on where it sticks. JB Weld would hold up fine in that application.

My dad used to own my 69. I just talked to him. He just looked at the tank and it had so many holes in it that it was shot. I suppose from water collecting in the bottom of it.

He does remember having to pull the brake booster. He said he remembers using lots of u-joints on the socket extensions. He also said he read articles saying you would have to pull the inner fender off, but he didn't have to.

My tank leaks too. I tried to pull mine without removing the master cylinder and I couldn't do it. Maybe I should give it another go.

Maybe you misread my post...dad said he definitely did have to pull the master cylinder and brake booster. It was even kind of a pain in the butt after that, he said. He got one from, he believes, a 76. The tanks are very similar up to a certain model year. I can't remember which year it is though. I do remember when he went through this...none of the vacuum parts worked worth a crap! :lol:

I remember when he had a huge Crower cam in the car, he used to make me get out and lift up the headlight buckets. :lol:

There's definitely not enough room with the master there, I was hopeing it would come out with the master removed but the booster still on,

I know i have a hole towards the top on the wheel well side, I think I'll unbolt it and see if I get good access to the hole and sand it and put some J-B weld on it, Maybe I'll get lucky and not have to pull it all the way out.

Well It took me about an hour 1/2 but I got it out, The booster must come out, The bottom bolts are ok, the top ones were a B*tch, Long extension with a swivel socket on the end and the air ratchet,

Now should I go to radiator shop or a body shop to get it fixed, I really don't wand to try JB weld Cause I don't want to have to pull it again,

I'm also going to replace the booster seal on the master side, Does it just sit there were it belongs or should I put some silicone or something to hold it from moving

Yikes. The one in my 1976 Corvette is A LOT smaller than that. I was able to remove mine without moving anything else.
