I've been lurking for a while now, but since my dream car hadn't found its way into my life, I had nothing to contribute. Two weeks ago that all changed and I'm the *very* proud owner of a 1977 L-82 in excellent condition.
While my hubby doesn't share my passion, he's been a doll about all this and has spent most of the last 14 nights in our garage fixing minor problems (brake shoes, a small power steering leak, adjusting hand-brake cable etc). Last night we took "my girl" out to introduce her to the other local "cool cars" and discovered that when I turn on the headlights and the dash lights (so that I can watch my speed *wink*) there's a loud, continuous beep, as though the headlights have been left on after the ignition is turned off. I'm content to turn up the stereo and pretend it isn't there, but hubby says it must be fixed!!!
I know this wasn't always a problem because two weeks ago when I bought the car I drove it over 10 hours to get it home (three hours in the dark with the headlights and dash lights on), and there was no beep!
Any suggestions as to what my problem might be and how to go about setting things right again? Hubby swears he didn't do anything witht he wiring, and I believe him!
2 ways to fix it, either A, change your head light switch, becuase thats the only thing in that loop, or B use your ears to find where the infernal beeping is coming from, and rip the module out. don't forget to tape up the dangling wire thats sparking aginst the firewall.
This is one of those things where a factory manual comes in handy. I don't know about the 77, but early ones had small switches on the headlight assembly itself that would turn on a dash light if they didn't go up all the way.
You can see them on mine underneath when the doors are closed.
I guess I'd recheck all the lights and function of the headlight doors, then find a manual.
I don't know what your problem is but welcome :seeya
Oh yeah isn't there an unwritten rule that you have to post a picture of your self? Bring on the Leghumpers...

Welcome to the Forum! Were you wearing your seatbelt when this happened?

WOW!!! What a response! Thanks for the great welcome!
I was wearing my seatbelt as a matter of fact...should it make a difference?
Forgive me if I ask some not so bright questions...I originally wanted a Vette for looks...it's only now I'm starting to become a little familiar with the mechanical/performance side of things...they're awesome machines!
Location: Sell crazy somewhere else were all stocked up here.
Re: Question from the New Girl (Bluegirl77)
Bluegirl did you have anything sitting on the passenger seat without the passenger seatbelt being latched when you heard the beeping ? I've heard of some Vettes having a sensor in the seats to warn people to install their seatbelts. Or if you just picked up a turkey at the local market, heaven forbid you don't want to place it on the passenger seat without the correct personal protection  .
This woman is Amazing!!!! And the Spell cast by the vetts knows no gender.. men are just swayed by the sexy curves.. figures :). Seat belt buzz. This does occur. But it would be oftly funny if it only did it when the head lights were on :). I had a similar issue with the Windshield wipers, I found this little speaker right by the fuse box with a few kicks it stopped. But then for some annoying reason the winshield wipers then would not shut off. They would put them selfs away then open back up again. and do one stroke, then put them selfs away, and keep on repeating this. I again did my bubba fix "in a fit of rage" and tore the switch out, that stopped it. :). But to make her feel better I had to put a new switch in her, she and the wipers are happy now.
