Re: Found in an old barn!! (Deuces Wild)
And now for the rest of the story. The city-township confiscated this stuff. The guy lives down the road about a mile from the tractor dealer. They have been after him to clean up his yard for about 9 years. Well about a month ago they came in and cleaned up his yard for him. They got 3 roll off dumpsters full. Anything they though they could sell they kept for this auction, to try and get there money back for cleaning his yard. They came in and took his stuff!!!!!!!

Re: Found in an old barn!! (PorscheGuy)
I took a look at it this morning. 1Z87L8S901434. Engine had "CUT" (federal emissions/auto) stamped on the engine pad. I could also just make out "1434" stamped on the pad. So it is original. Odomoter reads 23, 493.
The car is really rough. There was light rust showing where the VIN plate is attached to the windshield pillar. I am sure that there has been water sitting in the foot wells. Exterior paint is shot. Spare tire tub is cracked. Wheels and tires are not original and car was sitting so low that I couldn't see or reach the frame.
Car has T&T steering column with cruise. The main AC line is broken off at the compressor. No radio shielding on engine. Spark plug wires look original but they are now routed over the top of the valve covers. All of the emission vacuum hoses have been disconnected and/or plugged off. No AIR pump but I don't think this model came with one.
Somebody else might see a "diamond in the rough" but not me. I wouldn't touch it if you gave it to me.

Thanks Jim! Sounds like a pretty sad story behind that car. It could go on ebay as a low mileage original though.
How did the Porsche look? About the same?

<EDIT> I almost forgot. We're havin' ourselves a War on Terrorism (TM) these days, so that whole Constitution thing's right out the window. Gub'mint wants, gub'mint gets. Yes, sir. No, sir. Three bags full, sir. :nonod:

Wait a minute. The city gub'mint didn't like the way this individual's property looked so it stepped in and summarily confiscated private property? I sure hope there's more to the story, because there's this little thing I like to call the 5th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and a little section of it that reads:
"...[No person shall be] deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation."

Re: Found in an old barn!! (ddecart)
Many cities have jurisdiction for this type of problem. There was a guy here that was in and out of court numerous times over nearly 10 years. The county and city finally had enough and hauled out 50+ "bomber" (18 wheel dumptruck) loads of garbage and several vehicles, Then they knocked down the house which had very little roof left and no running water. Originally it was a real nice 2-story house built maybe in the early 70's.

This guy was told to clean up his yard over and over or the city will clean it for him he didnt do anything so they did it for him, I talked to them and the auctioner said he had talked to the guy and he didnt seam to worried about it, looks like a bunch of crap that was just in his yard for the whole world to see, so I can understand the city taking the action they did after 9 years!

$2700? That's not too bad from the looks of it. I'm sure we'll see it cleaned up a bit and on ebay with a $5k reserve in no time. I shoulda went up there.

Re: Found in an old barn!! (ddecart)
yeah it wasnt to bad of a price, the auctioner gave me a pretty good idea about the car and i told him to bid me up to $500
I was gambling on the fact that no one knew it was there.
but im sure it will be for sale again in no time.
I would have liked to got it for real cheap that would have made it worth the trip
