Late 69 wiper door question
Prior to an engine rebuild, I pulled the wiper door and mechanism out of my 69 for the purpose of cleaning overspray and having the mechanism painted. Now that my engine is in, I am about to install the mechanism and door. After looking at the parts last night, I am unsure about proper placement of the vacuum canister mounting bracket (pie pan type). I can't tell by looking at it which way to turn the bracket for proper alignment. Any one know before I take a stab at it (I guess it's a 50 50 chance of getting it right)?

Re: Late 69 wiper door question (noskillz)
Understood. But, the mounting holes are not centered in the plate, so, turning one way will raise the actuator higher than if it is mounted 180 degrees opposite.

Re: Late 69 wiper door question (Burgandy 69)
I don't know if this will help or not, but I have a 70 and mine is mounted with the long side up. The door works good. I hope this is what you are asking. It does have the pie pan type actuator.

Doh! Should I have checked the forum this morning! I also have a late '69 (also originally burgundy) that I'll look at when I get off in a couple hours, then respond. If I remember, it'll only work right one way.

Re: Late 69 wiper door question (Burgandy 69)
Mark,
Just checked mine and the bracket screws/bolts are torward the bottom, the actuator arm opening is toward the top. Not sure that is the correct orientation, but the door works fine.
Hope that helps!

Re: Late 69 wiper door question (Ron_98vert)
Thanks for the replies! We start the new engine for the first time tomorrow morning (YEAH, gotta break that new Comp Cam camshaft in.....). Once we shut it down, I plan to install the wiper door, with the bracket screws/bolts are torward the bottom.
Thanks again.
