Spare Tire Size?
What size is the spare tire supposed to be? I need to replace mine, but can't rely on the size of my existing spare; I don't trust anything that the previous owner had a hand in.
Another question. Since the rear is a posi, does the spare have to be the same size as the rear tires? Seems like a tire of a different height could cause lots of problems.

I think the answer to your second question is YES.
So, the answer to your first question is: whatever you currently have on the rear (at least height-wise; e.g., a 225/70 is very similar to a 255/60).
Now, will the size you need fit in the tub?

I'm not sure if it will fit. I'm running P255 60 R15s on the rear wheels. So the main thing I need to watch for is that I use a 60 series in the same brand? To help with weight and space, I guess I could go with a thinner tire, like a 225.

OK....so say I follow MG62's lead and buy TTII's with the following size:
17x8's, the bolt circle is 5-bolt, 4.75 inch and the backspacing is 4 inch.
Where would one go to find a solid "donut" type of spare that fits in the spare tire carrier?

I just picked up last night a 15x8 rim to use as my spare. I have the factory rim & spare now. I'm getting new skins next week and what to use the 255-60-15 (their really G-60-15) as a spare. Young guns never saw letter tires before I bet . I hope it will fit in the carrier...
